    And about time too...

    We could do with more hairdryer moments from rafa.

    From F365;

    Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has revealed how a half-time reading of the riot act from manager Rafa Benitez helped the Reds overcome Havant & Waterlooville in the FA Cup fourth round.

    The Reds eventually laboured to a 5-2 win at Anfield on Saturday after they were twice forced to come from behind against their non-league opponents in the first half.

    Lucas began the Reds rescue mission with their first equaliser and Benitez's side went on to avoid what would have proved on of the greatest shocks in the history of the competition.

    And Lucas, who joined Liverpool in 2006 from Brazilian side Gremio, has admitted that Benitez let his feelings be known at half-time with the game poised at 2-2.

    "Rafa said a lot of hard things to us at half-time and told us clearly that we had to improve, because we had conceded goals too easily," Lucas told the Daily Mirror.

    "We knew we had to win the game because we are in the top division and they are five divisions below us. We didn't play well enough in the first half.

    "The manager told us that. He told us some hard words to make us understand we had to improve and not make any more mistakes.

    "We know the first half wasn't good enough, but at least in the second we played much better and we won, so now we must prepare for the next one."

    Well, it's a bit like shouting or moaning - do it too often and it loses its effect.

          Pat Rice (IIRC) said a while ago that Wenger gets angry with the players about two or three times a season, at most.

          His teams do OK and finish games strongly.
          .
          Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

          May the Lord bless this post.

            I don't believe that judging by the look on his face during most games.

              I thought Rafa had a reputation for being a tough manager. I remember when he first came reading an article about his time at Valencia and dishing out regular bollockings to players, also dropping big name players when they didn't give 100%.

                I'd say that was more accurate. You can tell by his face when he is raging.
