Superb news. We've spent a f*cking fortune this year. How much in total now? 24 million in the transfer window?

A Liverpool spokesman has told BBC Sport he has heard nothing about Javier Mascherano's supposed permanent transfer to the Anfield club. Now that's not to say it won't happen, but let's maybe hold fire on it for a sec.

I think you're right though, I'll end up being disappointed.

Fed up of Alonso to be honest, slow, overrated, living off the form of his first two seasons, people say he's our most creative midfielder, which is utter nonsense.

Good player, but in the wrong league for mine.
****in hell lad, he was are best player last night in what was a piss poor showing to say the least What have you been watchin? I guess we're all entitled to our own opinion though. As for 18m for Masher - whether it be inclusive of wages - we've been mugged. For 18m I want a goal return from a midfielder.
If I had two lives...I'd give them both to you.

Now, we have signed one of the best holding midfielders in the world. Lets get some quality attacking players to entertain us all. We already have Gerrard and Torres, that means we need two wingers and a striker/hole player. The back four + Macherano to take care of defending and the rest ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK

no he wasn't at all, 18m is fine when you look at it compared to hargreaves and carrick - other HOLDING midfield players

                                He was toilet.

He's living on borrowed time, for all his supposed talent and creative ability he hasn't done much of that in recent seasons.

Speaking of goal return what of Alonso? You're lucky is he get's a handful a season.

Think Lucas, Stevie and Mascher in a midfield 3 is the way forward. Between them every angle is covered.
