There is no deadline for us to rush the signing through today. We can sign him next month or month after. Sky are just hoping to report a big deal
The Club will make it official once they have it done. I hope they take their time and pay as little as possible. I mean £18m is too much ffs

Mascher - Worth it or not????
I am a really big fan of our little argie. I think he is brilliant!!!
With all of the speculation tonight about whether the deal is done or not, the price of £18.6million has come up.
My question is what are we missing at the moment. GOALS!!!!!!
As much as I like Mascherano, for the £18.6 million fee would you get mascher or prefer to go for another striker maybe for a touch more i.e. Villa or Eto'o??????
We still have Alonso to do the defensive midfield job and would have another top class striker to add to the goals!!!!!!!!!
I really do not know what I would prefer
You'll Never Walk Alone

Secondly, it's not £18.6m. It's £17.1m and they are including the £1.5m that we paid for the loan deal.
Thirdly, Momo was surplus to requirements and his sale funded this. It was reported by Dave Usher that the "£17m" included his wages and that that the two ****s would use the full amount to "show their committment to LFC.18 + 5 = Englands greatest export

If we needed the funds to buy attacking talent and had to sell one of Alonso or Mascherano, I would be selling Alonso.Originally posted by lfcchris View PostI am a really big fan of our little argie. I think he is brilliant!!!

I really do not know what I would preferBill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Agreed.Originally posted by bazza76 View PostIf we needed the funds to buy attacking talent and had to sell one of Alonso or Mascherano, I would be selling Alonso.
Don't want to turn this into an anti-Alonso thread, but it's clear what Mascher gives to the team. In the last 2 seasons it's become less and less clear to me what Alonso provides us with.
His passing is immense, but the way we play (ie no movement) means that this weapon is useless. He doesn't provide a scoring threat and he is nowhere near as good as Mascher when it comes to playing the defensive role.
Alonso has gone stale.
PS - Yeah I believe Mascher is worth the money. That's the going rate for a world class player nowadays. Our defensive midfield is sorted for the next 6 years (assuming he stays).
