Ferguson got 7 years, so why not ? He was pretty **** when he started, the time it got the entire club to espouse his philosophy and getting it ingrained in them. It's all a question of believing what he's doing. I am.

It would be starting all over again with another manager.

This season the league has been a write off because of off field shenanigans. It will be better next season. We were very very good during the season he got us 82 points. Rotation wasn't a problem then.

He`d been chatting with his mate, lucas neill.

nothing sinister, just strange that, mate or not, you would be giggling. The man just doesnt give 2 ****s. You could have had the worlds finest stand up comedians telling carra the worlds funniest jokes on his way off the pitch and he`d have still offered them out.

All he does kewell these days anyway is pull out of tackles and jump about 10 feet in the air if he even smells a sliding tackle on its way. The man is a piece of **** and it grates me to the core to know he has ever worn our shirt.

These are spot-on points mate. It IS only worthwhile if you think you are going in the right direction. Only a psychotic loon could say we had made forward strides this season BUT on the whole I do think he is progressing (on the whole level not just the 1`st team). The 1`st team needs tearing to bits big time in the summer. Too many players have the ability but not the mental strength or the character to compete over a gruelling league season.

I would give him til the end of next season personally and then see where we are up to regarding league title prospects BUT I fully understand people who would like him to go at the end of this one

Thats just not on. The premiership may be gone and Neill may be his mate, but still.

          Sell, sell, sell.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Coops when you say the 1st team needs tearing to bits which players do you think we should be looking to move on? I only ask as you are normally the last person to question or criticise any of our players, yet even you are starting to doubt our players.

Players I would DEFINITELY move out :

Kuyt - Just cant cut it with us for whatever reason.
Crouch - His refusal to sign a contract when offered, coupled with his complete lack of effort pre-season and in many games when he HAS been used this year have sealed his fate in my eyes.

Voronin - The crow, I have picked crow`s with more talent than this fella.
Kewell - Knobhead, i`d pay his contract up right now and say bye.
Pennant - Not intelligent enough and his attitude stinks.
Riise - Turned into a lasy cunt, his enthusiasm and energy used to paper over the huge cracks in his game, not any more. ****e.

Aurelio - Good player but just can not be relied on whatsoever due to constant injuries.

I would also take the captains armband off Gerrard and tell him I was going to play him out right, or even in goal if I so choosed. If he didnt like this or was going to let his mates go running to the papers saying how stevie is oh so upset the he could go too.

Big decisions and big changes and big kicks up the arses are needed this summer.

                That bit about the crow

Would agree with most of that. But I would keep Pennant and Aurelio as squad players. Unless we got good money for them of course.

Whats up with Pennants attitude? Thought he's been fine since joining us.

Normally yes, I would too. But I think we really need to send a message to the rest of the squad that you are with the big boys now, dont do it when we need it and you get ****ed off.

But that's what worries me. After 4 years of rebuilding it looks like we've got to start over again. I suppose every 1st team has it's shelf life but the way I see it, we need 2 full backs, at least 1 wide player and at least 1 more top quality striker to be even close to challenging. Should we entrust Rafa in that rebuild?

It pains me to say it because Rafa will always be a legend for Istanbul and getting us to Athens but unless there's a drastic turn in our fortunes this season as well as a proper run in the 2 cups I would say he has to go at the end of this one.

Sorry mate, I dont mean in a getting pissed up and knocking up birds in the papers kind of attitude. The lad has been on his best behaviour in this department and I commend him for that

I meant attitude as in thinking mediocre is good enough. How many times do you see him have no more than an average to decent performance, but then go bigging himself up in the papers saying he is playing great and should be in the england side? He should be striving to improve all the time rather than thinking average performances are acceptable.

bit harsh in my opinion. I laughed as well to be honest BUT the difference is, I wasnt laughing at a joke on the sidelines with a mate. I was laughing at how **** the team is.

Ferguson's experience with United is a genuine one off. There are plenty of other instances where clubs have gone nowhere by keeping faith with the manager in charge. Can you imagine where we'd be if GH was still in charge? And there were plenty here who wanted him to stay. Time and patience is admirable and can work but it's not always the answer.

As for you blaming the off field problems for our shambles of a season...well, it has had an effect, that's for certain but by no means is it the sole reason. I believe the players have alot to answer for but for me the main reason why we've been so poor this season is Rafa and hi decision making. 56 million quid and our first 11 hasn't improved. Mediocre players still litter the first 11.

                            The buck stops with Rafa

                            I'm off to the pub

2 full backs ? Arbeloa and Finnan form a great pair. Finnan is still 31 and he has the experience which is invaluable. Yes, we need to ship out Riise and bring in another left back. Aurelio is good enough as a back up left back, add to that the fact Arbeloa can play there if needed as an emergency.

As for the other improvements that need to be made, well we don't need major surgery if you ask me. A world class left and right winger + another world class striker and a very good one. Ship out the likes of Kuyt and Voronin and see if Crouch wants to stay as a fourth choice striker, if not, ship him out too and get a decent replacement for him, Dean Ashton wouldn't be a bad choice.

So, to recap, a left back, a left winger, a left winger + 2 strikers. That would mean spending in excess of 60m pounds. Would the owners sanction it ? I don't think so.

So, it will be the same situation if our field uncertainty prolongs until this summer. Rafa will have to make a plan based on order of priority and we'll end up as a nearly team once again.
