    Agger boost for Liverpool
New boots ease metatarsal problem for defender

By Rob Parrish Last updated: 2nd February 2008

Daniel Agger is on course for a return to the Liverpool team - after changing his boots.

The talented centre-back has been out of action since September after suffering a broken metatarsal.

His initial comeback last month had to be shelved when he felt more discomfort in his foot, but the Dane is now back with his team-mates at the club's Melwood training complex.

And Reds boss Rafa Benitez explained that some alterations to his footwear have helped him overcome the problem.

Benitez told the club's official website: "Daniel is back in training which is very good news for us.

"Everyone has been working very hard to find a solution to his problem and he now has a new pair of boots which we hope will make a difference.

"They have been made especially for him by Adidas and they are different from normal boots because they take some of the pressure off the metatarsal that is causing Daniel the problem when he is kicking the ball.

"It would be very good for us if Daniel can prove his fitness because he has become a very important player for us."

great news. Lets hope he can get back to his best quick smart. God knows we need him

"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." I read the same on F365. He is in contention for a place. Hopefully ready for the Inter or Chelsea match.

I think Rafa wants a pacier, more technically proficient backline. Infact he needs it to make his system work in the PL IMO.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24
