Gerrard onto a loose ball, does well to find Torres, he cuts it back to Lucas who gets caught on the ball. Sunderland attack, spread it well, but breaks down and Gerrard comes forward.

Torres, Crouch and Gerrard n the edge of the box, Gerrard eventually shoots but blocked.

We have no attacking wingers in this game, Pennant and Lucas nowhere to be seen when it comes to joining in the attack.

Why is it always so obvious what we`re doing to do on free-kicks? We don`t have to do something fancy, just line up so that we have a couple of options not just Gerrard standing there.

Crouch hasn't really had anything to attack in terms of crosses.

Pepe booms it downfield, straight to Gordon. It landed on the edge of the box.

Crouch brings it down on the edge of the box, trys to find Torres but he can't quite get it under control and Sunderland clear.

Lucas and Pennant try a 1-2 on the right, Sunderland break it up.

I really would like to know where Lucas is supposed to be playing.

Skrtel does well, wins a foul near the corner flag.

Miller is booked for pulling back Gerrard who was trying to burst onto the Sunderland defence.

Mascher takes advantage of Sunderland going to sleep to drive towards the goal, shoots from 35 yards out, just over.

Early knock for Sunderland, Pennant (I think) went into a challenge with Richardson and after the ball went out he went down. Looks like he might not continue.

Those two were separated at birth, so it was probably an attempt at reunification.

Mid-way through the first half and its 0-0.

This shows where our problem is, our entire 4 midfielders split by about 15-20 yards in our half. Nobody staying wide.

We have no real shape when we come forward, it's basically Torres, Crouch and Gerrard on their own.
