My apologies for going back on topic, but I think Casillas and possibly Cech are better than Reina.However, he is one excellent keeper, although some of his distribution today wasn't up to his usual standard.

My apologies for going back on topic, but I think Casillas and possibly Cech are better than Reina.However, he is one excellent keeper, although some of his distribution today wasn't up to his usual standard.

I like Reina and think he's the best we've had since brucie but he doesn't make enough 'big' saves for me to be considered the best in the world. i thought he could have done a lot better for the arsenal goal at home this season and one of the reading games away he half heartly stuck a leg out and got beat easily. But keepers these days are poorer as is the game in general.

The Fabregas shot was difficult to save because he hit it first time as Reina was coming out. Had he taken a touch, it would have been very difficult for him to score.
Reina doesnt seem to be a spectacular keeper like Casillas because most of the times he prevents oppenents from getting a shot in by closing them down and he is very quick off his line to clear the danger while other keepers stay on the line and save a one on one which remains in peoples mind.

I think Cech is a better keeper, ok, I did, he is as vulnerable to blunders as any keeper though and to be fair Reina has been more consistent these past 2 seasons, on that basis id choose Pepe ahead of Cech. The only other keeper who COULD be better is Cassilas and hes in excellent form this year theres no doubting that. BUT id still choose Pepe as in my opinion he has been consistently better for 3-5 seasons.

Pepe is the main man in my eyes.

p.s - would love Kasper Schmeical as reserve keeper though!!

I didn't think Pepe had his best game in a Liverpool shirt today, but I think he's one of the best we've had in a long time. His distribution the majority of times is fantastic.

I agree with this. On current form these two are better than Pepe. But I struggle to think of any others (may be Buffon?). One of top 2 in the Prem and top 5 in the world IMO

Without reading any of this thread, I will add my opinion and say he is an awesome keeper.

Hardly ever needs to amke a spectacular save as he's either fast of his line to clear the danger, or in the right place to make a simple stop. It's not often you see the best keepers make the "Hollywood" saves - it's all about positioning.

But the ability that sets him apart is how good his distribution and ball skills are. Incredible.

No doubt there are better shot stoppers, keepers with better reflexes and athletic ability, but as a footballer and attcking ability there is none better.

I honestly wouldn't swop him for any other keeper in the world, despite myself being a huge fan of Buffon, and a keen admirer of THE on form keeper in world football - Casillas.

Reina is pure quality. And he'll get better.

Firstly well done Reina - it is a fantastic achievement.

Secondly could we all be a little more respectful of one anothers opinions. On th eother hand if you are going to make a controversial statement it is best to back it up with some reasoned argument.
