    Everton 0 Liverpool 1

A goal from Argentine starlet Gerardo Bruna helped a young reserve side reach the semi-finals of the Liverpool Senior Cup after a 1-0 win over Everton on Thursday afternoon. The match was played behind closed doors at Everton's Finch Farm training headquarters and both teams fielded a mixture of reserve and academy players.

Gary Ablett gave reserve team debuts to Steven Irwin and Astrit Ajdarevic as Liverpool recorded a deserved win.

"I am very pleased with the performance and the result," Ablett told Liverpoolfc.tv. "The young boys did really well in very difficult conditions and it was nice to give Steven and Astrit a game.

"Everton have just laid a new pitch and it was very heavy but we played some really nice football at times and passed the ball well.

"Gerardo took his goal well after some good play from Ray Putterill and we could have scored more.

"We were dominant at times and although they had some chances late on in the game I thought we deserved to win."

The Reds will now face Prescot Cables in the last four.

Liverpool team: David Martin, Steven Irwin, Emiliano Insua, Mikel San Jose, Daniel Ayala, Damien Plessis, Ryan Flynn (Stephen Darby 27), Jay Spearing (Astrit Ajdarevic 54), Daniel Pacheco, Gerardo Bruna (Jordy Brouwer 58).

Hehe, we even beat them with 10 men! Didn't know that we were held in such high regard as to play with a handicap?

I don't think that there is any video of this game. Everton have again refused permission for the club to film the game. They did this when we played them in the reserves league and at academy level too.

because they're Everton. Anything to annoy us I suppose. Every other club, at every other level, lets us film the games apart from them.
