i cant think of anyone that has played well for us since sept./oct apart from torres in parts of matches.

So to single him out is a bit much to be honest.

When my mum died unexpectedly it took me TWO years to recover from it. It's not something you can control, the impact is also not obvious, you can fake it, but inside you are a turmoil. I think Dirk is going through the same thing.

I won't pretend to understand the impact the loss of a parent can have - mine are both still very much alive - but Kuyt isn't the only footballer to have ever lost a mad keen Dad. Almost every father of a footballer is the same.

Imho Dirk Duyt will never walk alone, he gives 100% in every game which is 90% more then some of the tarts.

Didn't read the article but I wish he was an average player because then I wouldn't have a problem with him. Average strikers score and assist goals. Something which Kuyt isn't capable of.

I don't rate him as a footballer and I can't see him ever making a success of his LFC career but he has a heart as big as any player we have in our squad.

As for him using his dad's death as an excuse, well that's just bull sh!t in my opinion. How can anyone not be terribly affected by the death of one of their parents? Forgetting about footie now, I feel really sorry for him.

Sissoko wasn't ****...he had a great season up until his eye socket was damaged. Remember MOMO IS BOSS? He then played well in patches until this season...he was poor prior to leaving although by then, his confidence was smashed.

Kuyt is the same. He won Player of the Season on this website and others last year. He is a quality player who scored a hatful in the dutch league. Once here he showed a terrier- like quality and a will to win much admired. He has been affected by the death of his father...that is inevitable. I think we shall see a better player next season, if the "fans" keep off his back. As supporters, we should be the twelfth man and get behind our players. Constant criticism of players isn't healthy for anyone.

Whilst Kuyt is a limited player in terms of ability and speed his problems are mostly down to the way Rafa has used him in the team during this campaign.

If you look at last season his partnership with Bellamy was erratic, they had some very good games and some pretty average ones, resulting in the fact that we lost about half the matches they started together up front. Compare that with his partnership with Crouch, winning 12 of 15 starts, of which most saw the two combining for goals and were the games where Kuyt got his MoM type performances.

People often criticise our strikers (Torres excluded) but considering we've used 12 different permutations or formations up front this season, 7 of them in more than a single match, it's no surprise that they've struggled to find consistency to their game.

Agreed - Momo wasn't the same after his eye injury either. Dirk hasn't been the same since his Father passed away. He did do well for us last year but it's knocked him for six.

don't think he'd bang in the goals all the time anyway, but he's only doing what rafa tells him to do and taking up the positions that rafa wants him to.
