Sorry mate, you know I've a lot of time for you, but that is an extremely ****ty post. The fact that "Kuyt isn't the only footballer to have ever lost a mad keen Dad" is irrelevant - everyone reacts differently to bereavement, everyone loses a part of themselves and Kuyt has very clearly suffered the loss a great deal. I lost my own father coming up to eight years now and still suffer a great deal from this loss, Kuyt was extremely close to his father, it's nowhere near even a year since he lost him so it is no wonder that he is a shadow of his former self. I am myself frustrated with Kuyt's slump in form, he was sensational in his first season (though even then not scoring as many as I'd expected of him), I get angry with him but no way will I start throwing insults at the guy. You are fortunate enough to have not experienced the truly gutting experience of family bereavement and really shouldn't comment on the matter.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostI won't pretend to understand the impact the loss of a parent can have - mine are both still very much alive - but Kuyt isn't the only footballer to have ever lost a mad keen Dad. Almost every father of a footballer is the same.
I hate to sound unsympathetic or even cruel, but it's just an excuse.

As for him using his dad's death as an excuse, well that's just bull sh!t in my opinion. How can anyone not be terribly affected by the death of one of their parents? Forgetting about footie now, I feel really sorry for him.Originally posted by Armchairkopite View PostFFS Shaggy i thought you where one of the better posters on here.Originally posted by kurtangle01 View PostThat's poor Shaggy. Fair comments. Perhaps I was harsh and as I already very clearly explained, I'm not in a position to even attempt to understand.Originally posted by scully View PostSorry mate, you know I've a lot of time for you, but that is an extremely ****ty post. Maybe, MAYBE it is the fundamental reason for his form plummetting to even greater depths. The things is I never thought he was any good. Okay, 12 league goals last season wasn't bad for a first season but other than his first few games, I was never impressed with him and never thought he was anything like LFC standard.
I don't think he's good enough and, aside from the tragedy of losing his Dad which possibly has affected him greatly, I'm tired of reading him in the papers talking about how a goal bonanza is "just around the corner".
I've already pointed to his comments about one bouncing in off him being some kind of catalyst for him to start playing like van Basten; the same happened at Newcastle and it made not a jot of difference.
But yeah...apologies to anyone who was offended.

I don't think he's actually trying to use it an an excuse. No doubt it did and still is affecting him but I doubt even he himself feels it's the reason for his poor form. The fact is he was never good enough and it's inevitable that when a player signs for a team that's out of his league, they're going to find it very tough and ultimately lose their confidence and have a bad time. I'd love him to start banging them in but ti won't change the fact that he will never be a top striker.

I never accused you off slagging Kuyt. You started the thread in good faith but even a thread highlighting Kuyt`s remorse for his father became a Kuyt-bashing thread.I`m not his greatest fan but I`m sick off the daily slagging he gets.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostWoah hold on. My reply was not an attack on your thread starting post.

The day after. Death does however impact on people in different ways and Kuyt was particularly close to his dad.Originally posted by wavydavy View PostAm I right in saying Titi Camara actually played and scored the winner vs West Ham the day after his dad died? It's an excuse. Sorry.
Personally I don't buy into it, I think there are other reasons for Kuyt's poor form and this is being used an excuse to deflect from those.

I actually dont think Rafa's insistence on keeping playing him has helped to be honest. His confidence has visibly decreased with each game & giving him a run in the ressies might have taken the pressure off & allowed him to regain some form.
I dont blame him for actually being so devestated as to affect his game at all, but I do Rafa for not dropping him when his form is so deeply woeful.3rd place. Worst champions ever.
