    Player analysis

Ok, annoyed about the result so this is probably all going to be negative so here we go:

Reina - Decent game, unsighted and couldn't have done anything about the goal

Finnan - Poor going forward, and deliberates the longest of any player i've seen taking a throw in, and usualy plays a **** throw anyway. Some of his passes were terrible, can recall one were he practically booted it at Sissoko.

Carra - Decent game, looked a bit unsure once or twice, and find it hard to criticise him for the goal.

Agger - Good game, did his job against Drogba and Shev which is going to be one of the hardest tasks he'll ever have.

Warnock - Average, lacked composure on the ball, but he is only just back from injury

Pennant - Average, played on or two nice ball but seems afraid to take players on and gave some poor passes.
Alonso - Poor, complete passenger played about 2 decent passes all match asside from that virtually non existant.

Sissoko - Excellent - Along with Agger probably the best player on the pitch, got stuck in and looked like he actually cared about the result. A bit wild in the challenge sometimes, but that happens in these types of game.

Gerrard - Average - okay he was played out of position, but he was guilty of being a ball greed, spurned 2 good chances were he shot instead of passed. If it had been the reverse he would have ben screaming his head off at the accused player. Guilty of trying to do too much.

Kuyt - Good - made a lot of good runs and tried to bring others into the play. At the moment tho he's reminding me a lot of Morrientes, so I hope he gets a goal soon.

Bellamy - Average - Needs to learn the ****ing offside rule, how many times does he need to be caught out before he realises. Showed some decent touches, but fairly quiet. Of course lack of service didn't help.
    ----------
Aurelio - Poor, he's never a left back as long as I've a hole in my arse. And some of his crossing was woefull, bring back JAR and Kewell (and yes I'm surprised to hear myself say that about Kewell.

Crouch - Average - Looked okay when he came on but really needs to work on his ball heading skills

Zenden - Poor - Not good enough for LFC, might be okay in Left of midfield but anywere else is a no.

Okay that's me done, all in all I thought the performance was ****. No creativity at all, not sure whats gone wrong since we finished last season but we need to sort it out. Thats two defeats on the run, and it doesn't fill me with confidence for the Newcastle game.

Agree with you on Finnan, lacked a bit of then zip he has going forward with Stevie. Xabi was better today but still a few stray passes from him which is not what we expect from him. I agree with you on Stevie, he looked llike he was trying to take too much responsibility on his shoulders, maybe lacking confidence in those around him. Pennant will not get a better chance to impress against the top sides so he's got to be disappointed.

I think, and hope, that Rafa is absolutely furious with them and fiucking lays into them so we can get a real kickstart at home to the Toon's circus act defence

coments re creativity, people should realise that we're playing the hardest team to play against at thier place.
As for Alonso he has soo much more to his game than passing, breaks up oposition play and attacks, still reads the game well.
Not at his best but still does a job.

Zenden - when he came on we were more balenced and was the only time we looked like taking control. A better player than most give him credit for. Granted it allowed Steive to go infield

Agger prob did some of the best passing i've seen from one of our defenders since the 80's.
        Lad looks class.

It will come as on another day getting 2 of the best goal scorer's on one on one will result in goals.

major thought today was when we signed Cisse and they Drogba we all thought what a waste of money he was. Today he got them the 3 poinrts, may not be the classiest player but a handfull and knows where the net is.
Can see Kuyt being the same once settled and a couple of goals in the net
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

Agger is a class act, no doubt.

Agree about Finnan. He's been so ponderous going forward this season and he's wasted a few good opportunities. The more I watch him and Pennant this season the more I wish we'd signed Alves.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
