Maybe this bid is not really targetting Hicks, I think it says in the article that the offer to Gillette was made but not accepted, this would fit in to the "first refusal" option that has been discussed that hicks/gillette has, this must though have some sort of time limit????

Maybe it will test Hicks resolve.

DIC may think he's just holding them to ransome and has no intention of buying Gillett out and if they make an offer and leave it on the table for 24 hours only then Hicks will have to put his money where his mouth is or sell to them.

Lets face it DIC aren't going to pay Hicks asking price so if this offer gets refused either the yanks have to kiss and make up or Hicks is serious about not wanting to sell Liverpool and serious about buying Gillett out.
