If new 100% owners comes in it would be expected that they would want their own man in. Rafa hasn`t got the record to make him un-touchable, like Ferguson had.
Can you remind me what it was about Ferguson's record after 4 seasons that made him untouchable?

    Thanks.
    That's the one...

Good reply, thanks. Don't agree with it but.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

In addition I think people should really take note of the Echo in this regards

Finally I dont see DIC making any mistakes that our current owners have which is why I am almost certain they will leave Rafa in charge if they take over

Is it likely to make much difference one way or the other? I want Rafa to stay and will support him to the hilt while he's our manager, but he has to justify our faith and make a case for himself by improving things on the pitch. If new owners come in then he will have to prove himself to them.

Yes he will have to prove himself.

Lets hope he is given the chance to do so.
I think his work so far has earned him that right.

Perhaps. i can see them giving him a go, but his time would be limited, a la Ranieri under Abramovich. He would probably have to prove himself in the first year or face being moved on.

The yanks' mistake was two-fold (hence the outrage_ - looking to get rid of a popular manager, and looking to replace him with a novice. DIC could avoid similar response from the fans if they replaced Rafa with someone of an equal or higher pedigree. After all, he's already lost the support of some fans.

Actually there wasn't much. He would have been sacked had he not won the FA Cup. There was also talk of him being sacked the first year they won the Premier League as well (I think they had had their worst start to a league season for 20 years or something like that, the team were regularly booed of the pitch etc). Just shows how one game can turn everything on its head.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I agree with that, subject to what happens the rest of this season and where we end up in the league.

NO liverpool manager will ever lose my support while in the hot seat, but i must admit i am not a RCDNW any longer. some of his decisions are just wrong. IMO of course

Well certainly not a Champions League winning manager in any case.

Houllier lost my support long before he was sacked.

I'd say he has earned the right to another season, regardless of where we finish this year.

After what Hicks and Gillett have done, I doubt any new owner would come in and make big decisions like changing the manager straight away, particularly after the fans have backed Rafa so strongly not long ago
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Just like Ferguson started losing support 2 years ago and Wenger last year, football fans are so fickle I have no doubt they are singing there names again saying how great managers they are.

As they should, back him properly and if he doesn't deliver they can make a change.
