I doubt directors could block it alsoOriginally posted by dawmdt View PostI imagine that will be a decision for the whole board of directors, I wouldn't have thought one person could block it.
Seriously that would mean a scenario where Gillett couldnt sell his shares to anyone unless the board of directors pre-approved it
The only way imo that Hicks can stop DIC doing due dilligence and purchasing Gilletts shares would be to exercise his reported first option and buy them himselfBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Hicks couldnt stop Gillett selling his sharesOriginally posted by wishiwasascouser View PostHicks got his own way with the whole stadium issue.
He might have first option on them but if he fails to take up that option Gillett can sell to whoever he wants and Hicks couldnt in any way prevent the potential buyer doing due dilligenceBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Yes, let's not forget that G&H independently sent two sets of people in to look over the club's books recently - one set for each of them.Originally posted by Lecter View PostHicks couldnt stop Gillett selling his shares

The fact that Hicks has not given DIC permission to look at the books, doesn't mean Gillett hasn't or can't.
I reckon

Dont you think Hick's will have been working in the background to raise finances to buy Gillettes shares, i do, he's a rat, he sees lfc as a big fat cheque, he wont mind waiting for his payday. In the end i can see DIC pissing off & buying another club.Originally posted by Lecter View PostHicks couldnt stop Gillett selling his shares

the thing about both having first option on each others shares, surely there would be a limit on the amount of time you have to come up with the money to buy said shares?Originally posted by REDrascal View PostDont you think Hick's will have been working in the background to raise finances to buy Gillettes shares, i do, he's a rat, he sees lfc as a big fat cheque, he wont mind waiting for his payday. Believe they have already said it's Liverpool or nothing - they are interested in buying Liverpool only, no-one elseOriginally posted by REDrascal View PostDont you think Hick's will have been working in the background to raise finances to buy Gillettes shares, i do, he's a rat, he sees lfc as a big fat cheque, he wont mind waiting for his payday. I'm worried that the 1st real news we hear from DIC, will be to announce they are no longer in the hunt to buy LFC, i can see it happening. Seems that what ever went on in Dubai yielded nothing, & Hick's has decided that's it. He's staying for a few years ATLEAST.Originally posted by Rafa Shankly View Postwas always gonna happen mate, good news for us is always followed by bad news, which is usually the fat ****ing yank opening his mouth.

hicks statement is standard hostile takeover stuff -ive been telling people this for ages.
what do you do when a third party wants to buy out your business.....?
claim youll never selll to push the price up.
get tight control of all the statements coming out of your office so the true position doesnt leak
make sure all your people are quoting the party line
pull a cheap publicity stunt or two...like say, say send your son round to the sandon
then when youve got the price up as far as you can push the buyer (who want lfc badly but arent mugs) you sell and roll around in millions of profit.
this deal will be done
all that remains is haggling over the exact pricedrunk knows best

I have heard whispers that Hicks has hawked the club around every billionaire and his dog state side, the only taker(s) he has found is for minority holdings 25-33% which are unacceptable to Gillett (who wants out completely) and crucially at a lower price than DIC are willing to payOriginally posted by REDrascal View PostDont you think Hick's will have been working in the background to raise finances to buy Gillettes shares, i do, he's a rat, he sees lfc as a big fat cheque, he wont mind waiting for his payday.
