but theres nothing to stop hicks getting in a partner of his own choosing though, some dumb **** yank cash cow who can match dic and would be a silent partner.

i think thats what hicks is looking for and thats what his term "i'm fixing it " means

No one is going to put in millions and sit quiet. Hicks was supposed to be a silent partner and the fat **** can't help himself either

Tom Hicks’s troubled relationship with George Gillett Jr turned ugly yesterday when the Liverpool co-owner threatened to block any attempts by his business partner to sell his 50 per cent stake in the Barclays Premier League club.

Dubai International Capital (DIC) remains committed to buying Gillett’s stake in the first phase of its quest to take control at Anfield, but Hicks claimed that his fellow American is answerable to him and cannot sell without obtaining his permission.

Hicks’s outburst is the first public indication of the extent of the breakdown in his relationship with Gillett and came on another turbulent day for Liverpool, during which Jamie Carragher was arrested and cautioned for common assault and Rafael BenÍtez, the manager, backed Steven Gerrard’s withering assessment of the club’s failings on and off the pitch.

“Not only am I not going to sell, my partner cannot sell without my approval,” Hicks said. “So I kind of have the ability to determine the outcome of what is going to happen, and I am right in the middle of that.”

Gillett has been seeking an exit strategy since his relationship with Hicks became untenable after a series of run-ins, but while he may be bound by an agreement to offer his stake to his partner before any other potential buyer, it is thought unlikely that Hicks would want to acquire Gillett’s half-share of the club.

Contrary to Hicks’s repeated claims that he does not want to sell, discussions between him and DIC are continuing and although he intends to retain some of his shares and influence in the short term, the Texan, along with Gillett, is willing to grant the private-equity investment arm of the Dubai Government access to Liverpool’s accounts, with a view to a possible takeover bid next month.

Slightly more positive take on things.

If this was true (about Hicks preventing Gillett from selling to somebody) Hicks could have killed all the speculation weeks ago by revealing it

If what the papers publish is bull**** and planted, then why isn't Hicks suing them and take them to court?
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

probably cause the fat cunt is illiterate and doesn't know what the papers writing bout him.

This only confirms what Lec and others have said that Hicks is offering the club right, left and center.

Like a desperate cry for help.

                        From dubailife...

                        Hicks Continues To Woo DIC
                        28/02/08

These stories just wont go away will they. Despite protestations that Messrs Hick and Gillett are nothing but a bunch of fortune hunting mavericks, the fact is they would like nothing better to sell to DIC.

We all know that Hicks and Gillet would love to sell. The fact is their refinancing deal agreed last month will need renegotiating in 18 months time and once again would embroil the club and the two owners into yet more heady talks of debt. Furthermore, the club/owners will have to begin the structuring of the remaining finance (a staggering £300m) for their proposed new stadium. Is it any wonder that the owners want to sell asap.

However, there is no reason compelling enough for DIC to pay over the odds in order to gain control of Liverpool Football Club. They have failed to enter into a bidding war when they first sought to acquire LFC, then also failed to pay over the odds when in November 2007 they were offered a a minoritystake in the club. Once again they had the opportunity to make a play during the last month but refused to be drawn into paying over the odds.

Time and time again they have demonstrated that if they are to acquire the club then it will be because the price is right. Of course they have made overtures and it seems like an open secret that DIC have been courted by the Liverpool's owners.

What has muddied the waters more is the near absolute silence form Hick's partner.

"The pair's relationship is believed to have broken down irretrievably over last month's £350 million refinancing deal with the Royal Bank of Scotland and US investment bank Wachovia. Gillett refused to sign up to a press release announcing the 18-month loan agreement and has not spoken publicly about the turmoil at Anfield for months."

Speculation is increasing that if Hicks won't play ball then Gillett will do!

Not that much in it, but thought I would post it anyway... they basically say that Gillet will sell out, and claim that hicks is still touting DIC, but wont pay overprice...

This is the worst case scenario that I have dreaded. Looks more realistic than a DIC buyout right now IMO - oh ****.......
