I still shudder when I read this.. it was terrible at the time. Moores and Parry you cunts.
"Dubai International Capital LLC today announces that it has decided to end negotiations with Liverpool FC and Athletic Grounds plc about a possible investment in the club.
"Having completed due diligence, DIC submitted a comprehensive offer to the Liverpool board. The offer had been accepted in principle by majority shareholder David Moores. It appears that the Liverpool board and the majority shareholder David Moores were unable to approve these terms in order to allow DIC to make a formal offer to all shareholders.
"Liverpool is the most successful football club in English football history. It exists to win things for its supporters. It deserves to be in the hands of people who support it, who understand its history and legend and who share the enthusiasm and passion of its fans.
"As businessmen, we move on. As fans, we hope that the new owners would share the same vision as we had for LFC and, of course, in realising the new stadium that is so badly needed to ensure the club can continue to compete at the highest level in the Premiership and Europe."

Me neitherOriginally posted by AFII View Post
I don't believe for one second that Rafa is now in Hicks camp. He just use Hicks to get what he want, a new deal, and that will suit Hicks fine in his charm offensive.
Both of them get what they want.
Whether Rafa exposed them or not is open to debate, however its clear hes been told to quieten down which he as done
Now if you knew you would have a potential new boss, would you continue to **** stir and slag off the owners
Personally I'd become a paragon of virtue and a shining example of the model owner / manager relationship
It has nothing to do with positioning with Hicks in the hope of him winning any power struggle
If it was that then Rafa's backed the wrong horse and hes smarter than that imoBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

At that time AF it was the ONLY offerOriginally posted by AFII View PostThe problem is that he recommended the other shareholders to accept the offer from G&H because it was the best offer for the club.
A blatant lie because he had done no check up on them.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

spot on. Rafa has to manage the team, he might of exposed the owners for what they are but now he has to win games. The ownership issue will resolve itself now.Originally posted by Lecter View PostMe neither

FACT is DIC's period of exclusivity had expired they then formalised their offer, Gillett and Hicks then came in an gazumped themOriginally posted by pezzzer View Postagain mate you have to ask yourself why dic pulled out? the shareholders were happy with the deal, dic were happy with the deal, the fans were happy with the deal then rick and moores allowed another bidder to come in,WHY?
parry/moores wanted dic to **** off because they new that unless they did they couldnt be seen to take the yanks over them, it all boils down to money, disgusting
When DIC pressed Moores for an immediate answer he said he couldnt give them one as he had to duly consider the higher offer in accordance to shareholder obligations (I'm almost certain this would have been made clear by Granadas representative on the board)
DIC then withdrew their bid leaving one bid left on the tableBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I agree, but to be fair, they would possibly not need to be reminded by the Granada board member, it is standard stuff they would already be fully versed in.Originally posted by Lecter View PostFACT is DIC's period of exclusivity had expired they then formalised their offer, Gillett and Hicks then came in an gazumped them

Can you imagine what Granada would have done if a higher bid had been ignored?Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but does not actually get you anywhere.

Only partially correctOriginally posted by Rashid View PostThe "best offer for the club" doesn't have to financial. If you look at their backgrounds here we have two guys who have been bankrupt, one destroyed Corinthians and has a website made up by Stars fans against him. So this "Legal obligation" is bull****. There are millions if examples in the financial world where smaller bid has won a tender due to the people who back it.
They correct term of considering a higher bid would be that is was "duly considered".
Now how long is duly considered, 1 hour, 3 hours 48 hours???
All the reports at the time suggested DIC put a 12 hour time limit on Moores, I would suggest that was highly unrealistic in terms of "duly considering". I'm almost certain Granadas representative on the board would have asked for any higher bid to be discussed at board level minimum
When Moores said he needed longer they pulled out
I want DIC in but the way they stamped their feet and took their ball away first time round is petulant to say the least, I'm certain they deeply regret that now.
I dont blame Moores much except for not checking Hicks' background
DIC only have themselves to blame for taking their ball away
One thing we should really do is give credit to Hicks & Gillett they saw DIC's period of exclusivity expire without them formalising their offer and gazumped them
Credit were credits due on that score they played a blinderBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

That I would agree withOriginally posted by Dhavlos View PostI have to say the haste with which the deal with the yanks was completed has always troubled me as well, and I certainly agree that one of the main factors was that Parry/Moores wanted to save face after DIC pulled out.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Stop it Lector, you know there is no room for sense on these forums. Too much of that goes against current perceptions and all you are doing is muddying the waters.Originally posted by Lecter View PostOnly partially correct
