You can kiss Rafa goodbye if this happens, and also kiss goodbye to any chances of getting Mourinho (for those secretly hoping he'd be second choice if Rafa leaves).
It's our new CEO they are talking about. Who knows if they will sack Rafa or not.

If they think that sacking Rafa and bring their man in would be for the best for the club then I would back them. They are very successful businessmen and know what they are doing.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Women are good with money though, so no problem there. She'd probably have naff all to do with the football side of things.

As Shanks said, the board are to sign the cheques.

at the end of the day, If rafa was sacked, I'd be gutted.

But if the new man they brought in won us the league, I'd soon forget about my sadness. Be just like the Spurs fans who were pining for Martin Jol.

As soon as Juande Ramos was winning them games, most shut up. When he won them a trophy, they all shut up.

Fans are easily won over by success.

It is grim news indeed if true that Hicks is close to taking full control. Unfortunatly, it woulden't seem like Gillet could do much about, neither could DIC without paying enough for Hicks pockets. Seems like Hicks actually holds all the cards, if he can find the money for a fair bid of Gillets stakes... If Gillet want out and Hicks find the roughly 200 mill, then that is that. The only hope left is for Gillet to hold on to his stakes long enough for Hicks to get in to trouble (next re-financing perhaps) - I very much doubt he will do that though...

Hope that he is bluffing, and that DIC have called it - just have a bad feeling about this one... Guess we all have to find new ways of protesting!!!

Interesting week coming up - hope for the better, fear for the worst!

            Indeed.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best. Wise advice indeed.

I was going to highlight that aspect of but thought it was a bit cave- manish. She must be good to have got where she is and cant imagine she will have anything to do with the football side of things. Frankly if some tought bird gets things moving at the club it would be good.

Tom Hicks has raised the capital to buy out his Liverpool co-owner George Gillett and take a 100 per cent stake in Anfield.

The Texan billionaire has quietly been negotiating with his American partner over the past week, and is edging closer to a deal that will make him the sole owner of the Premier League club.

The Mirror can reveal that while Arab investment company DIC has been trying to persuade Gillett to sell his 50 per cent stake to them in recent weeks, Hicks has been raising money in the background to block such a move.

Now he has backing from some powerful business associates in the United States, and is ready to test the resolve of Gillett by matching any offer DIC makes for the shares.

The investment arm of the Dubai government is expected to make a formal offer this week for half a stake in Anfield, but Hicks and Gillett have a deal allowing the other to block the sale of any shares in Liverpool to a third party.

Privately, Gillett has made known reservations about his partnership with Hicks.

But there are signs he may defer to Hicks - who is the more powerful of the two in American business circles - and sell his stake. That would leave Hicks in sole charge of the club.

Dubai says Liverpool club talks stuck on valuation
                        Tue 4 Mar 2008, 7:12 GMT

DUBAI (Reuters) - A Dubai government-run investment fund said on Tuesday it has been in talks with Liverpool football club's U.S. owners about possibly buying a stake, but one of the club owners "was in dreamland" about valuations.

"It's no secret that we have been in discussions with the current owners," Dubai International Capital (DIC) Chief Executive Sameer al-Ansari told reporters at a conference.

"It's not easy because the owners are in dreamland about valuations at the moment," said Ansari of Tom Hicks and George Gillett. He later clarified that one of the club's owners "had come out of dreamland", without giving further details.

Hicks said last month he was not planning to sell a stake in the British soccer club, denying press speculation that he was in talks with DIC over a sale.

The Times, without citing a source for the information, said on Tuesday that DIC was confident Gillett would accept its offer of 200 million pounds for his 50 percent of the club, but said there were claims that Hicks was ready to exercise his option to buy out Gillett's stake.

Hicks said in January he had talked to DIC "once" about a 10-15 percent stake but Dubai said at the time the valuation was too high.

Hicks and Gillett completed a refinancing deal in January that should allow them to go ahead with the building of a new stadium.

DIC had been considering a bid for the club last year before pulling out.

Liverpool are planning to build a new stadium on parkland adjacent to their current Anfield home, though the plans have changed and been delayed several times.

DIC, which manages about $13 billion of assets, is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai.

Deal is extremely unlikely in my opinion.

When we have some factual information at last. However, there is not much to go on.

They are talking about buying at least some of the club but we dont know how much.

Or how likely a deal is.
