I'm not worried yet. I don't think even DIC believed that the deal would be easy. It's already a dirty battle and it will take time for them to get 100% of the club.

DIC are excellent businessmen and they know what they are doing and they are also backed by the Sheikh.

I expect it to get a lot dirtier before all this is over but it will be worth it because it will save the club we love.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'm fed up of the fat cunt using the media all of the time like that. FFS, the offal is practically his mouthpiece nowadays.

DIC havent covered themselves in glory either with all of these premature announcements.
To be fair it's the showboating bitch Staveley that has been all over the press, briefing, leaking, making assertions that aren't true, interviewing to enhance her personal profile in the media.

Imagine putting an amateur like her up against someone as hard core as Hicks. She failed us.

theres no point in gg negotiating with dic at the mo as until hicks's time frame runs out his hands are tied.
Yeah but doesnt there have to be a bid accepted before the 90 day thing is triggered? Otherwise, it's 90 days from when?

The board don't have input on day to day stuff. Sounds like DIC wanted that type of say and who can blame then.

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has ended negotiations with Dubai International Capital (DIC) over acquiring a 49% stake in the club.
DIC had earlier announced it was in advanced talks to buy a stake in the Anfield side.

But in a statement on the Liverpool website, Hicks said: "I have decided to terminate further discussions with DIC.

"I and my colleagues will continue to explore a number of other options with regard to the ownership of the club."

Talks had been taking place between DIC and Hicks about how a joint relationship would work.

George Gillett, Hicks' co-owner, is understood to have agreed in principle to sell 49% of his 50% stake to DIC, and the other 1% to Hicks to give the Texan a controlling interest.

This needs to be ended once and for all and it really doesn't look to me that it's going to happen anytime soon

DIC have accepted that Hicks, co-owner of Kop Football (Holdings) Limited, will not sell his share in Liverpool in the near future, but would insist on a clause giving them first refusal to buy his stake.

Hicks added: "DIC made it clear that if they invested in the club, they would want it to be managed by committee.

"It is clear to me that such a committee approach would not be in the best interest of Kop, of the club or of the club's loyal and passionate supporters."

Hicks and fellow American Gillett took control in a deal worth £218.9m in February 2007. But their own relationship has broken down and the pair - Hicks in particular - have been the target for strong criticism from supporters.

It is believed Gillett is willing to sell but the situation is further complicated by an agreement between him and Hicks that means one cannot sell his share without the agreement of the other.

But BBC Radio 5 Live's football correspondent Jonathan Legard understands that DIC will not be deterred from their interest in Liverpool.

"DIC are not discouraged and the show will go on," said Legard. "There are plenty more twists and turns to come."

I'd still like to see DICs statement though.
At least a bit of good news. I dont believe anything is dead in the water, its just Hicks being a businessman.

I bet, that this hard-balling Hicks is playing is just as much a way to get himself in a position, where he can "let go" of all the shares (or a majority of them) with the excuse, that DIC have their own middleeastern way of conducting a business - and he would never be able to run a club or a board with them around - and for the peace of the world and his wallet, he will let them have the majority.

He knows how things will stand in 3-6 mths - or at least in 18 mths. - so he will want to sell - in due course - but for now he is in the position of just having an offer at the table - not feeling the preassure on his own repayment of the loan. So rigth now he can claim "I'm stopping", but he will need DIC (or someone similar) around in time for the loans to be paid.

Lets hope this is just a media stunt to quizze more money out of DIC - as that way of seeing it would suit both Hicks and DIC in the end.

Hicks would be very stupid if he didn't act like there is no way that he will sell the club.

He will test the waters to get what is best for him out of all of this. He really don't have anything to lose. The worst case scenario for him is that he will lose the £40m profit or whatever he would lose if DIC walked away and that the club will be owned by RBS if we can't pay the interest.

The club will be the one that will take the hit if we can't pay the interest, not Hicks or Gillett.

So the profit is the only thing Hicks can lose in his worst case scenario.

After Hicks had his rant about the leaked letter DIC came said they didn't expect any problems with todays negotiations because of it.

they were wrong on that.I knew once I read the fat cunts venom about the letter that he'd find a way to get back at them and he hasn't disappointed.

He really has no idea about whats best for LFC and its fans.Releasing a statement like that the day before our biggest game of the season is just more proof he's a self interested ****.

Hicks can't be a business man, cos according to most on here the man is a thick cunt. I mean, he was just going to let DIC purchase 49% of the club without stipulating any terms and conditions, and then DIC would work from the inside to try and get him out, undermining him at every turn.

That Amanda (or her employers) messed up big time with those press releases, especially the 'Hicks knows we'll get the whole club soon enough' one. Talk about a red rag to a bull. Very amateurish in my opinion.
