"Through me the way into the suffering city,
Through me the way to the eternal pain,
Through me the way that runs among the lost.
Justice urged on my high artificer;
My maker was divine authority,
The highest wisdom, and the primal love.
Before me nothing but eternal things were made,
And I endure eternally.
Abandon every hope, ye who enter here."
And like that… he's gone

Contrary to what people believe, Banks have actually lent money to people who they have no chance of repaying the loan. Just because the bank gives you a loan, it doesn't mean they are 100% confident you'll repay it. As long as they have security then they'll give the money out.
Isn't Hicks' security the players?

In regards to a fan representative on the board...
Originally posted by SpeedyG View PostDo you even know whether that was requested. He says not, direct quote, unattributed sources say otherwise. You are being niave if you are going to hang him for that.So who do you think these members of 'this committee' are?'DIC made it clear that if they invested in the club, they would want it to be managed by committee.
'Based on my 13 years of successful experience as an owner of professional sports teams, and based in particular on the situation at Liverpool Football Club over the past year, it is clear to me that such a committee approach would not be in the best interest of Kop, of the club or of the club's loyal and passionate supporters.
DIC, Hicks and?

5% mate is not sweeping, my point is focused on a very specific group and many share my sentiments.Originally posted by m100900 View PostI think it's cheap and rather telling that you can make such an ill-informed sweeping generalisation about fellow supporters.
Try looking at the Spirit Of Shankly campaign for example - not without it's faults, but well meant, passionate, fair-minded and as democratic as is possible in the circumstances - and very very well supported. The Crushing Machine MKII

True, but if he delivers they will come around, and I still assert that the majority of the fans care almost exclusively about the first team squad. They'll be turned around by things like Torres, Mascher. Imagine how they will feel when the new state of the art, world class stadium opens.Originally posted by Lecter View PostThen this sorry mess will continue
No amount of PR by Hicks is going to turn round enough public opinion
As I said earlier if he believes PR will turn round public opinion he knows nothing about Liverpool, he should take advice from Kelvin MacKenzie and The Scum as to how difficult it is to change Liverpool peoples minds
He still has the chance to redeem himself. The Crushing Machine MKII

And in all fairness, I can perfectly well understand why he woulden't want a fan on the board with full voting rights, I woulden't like to see that...Originally posted by SpeedyG View PostDo you even know whether that was requested. Fair enought to have a fan representative on the board, but he should not have a final say in the running of the club or any voting rights whatsoever...
But as far as we know, this has not come up - if hicks is to be believed

Actually TV revenues is what is paying for almost all of that.Originally posted by spider-neil View PostI want to make some things clear about my opinion of the yanks.
I have no problem with them getting loans for players.
I have no problem with them getting loans for the new stadium
I have no problem with them taking dividens from profits
the problem I have with the yanks is WE are paying for them to owe us which is ****ed up.
as for the first three points anyone expecting different investors to do business differently is living in a dream world. The Crushing Machine MKII

It isn't a state of the art world class stadium anymore. Not even if Hicks or rather RBS bought Aguero, Alves and Diego would change my opinion about him.
Hicks out.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Thats a commonly accepted opinion. He needs more money and DIC are the best suited to provide it. However, it WILL be on HIS terms, not theirs. If they continue with all this, "we're gonna force him out" stuff then they will not get in. Simple as.Originally posted by REDrascal View PostThe Crushing Machine MKII

Winning isn't more important than the soul of the club and our only chance to get at least a bit of that back is if Hicks and Gillett sells up.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

The soul of our club went when we sold up to get more money to compete and that was way before they started to piss us off in November. Rubbish Speedy G.
What DIC seem to appreciate and you don't, is that opinion is a strong sales motivator.
Look at the news. The dollar is ****ed. Credit is ****ed. The banks know it, and they ultimately have the last call.
So what does that mean?
It means you have a massive voice to vote with your pocket.
Look at it this way. If people started boycotting games, would the banks be so sure in investing in Hicks next time the review comes up?
I doubt it, especially when there is a keen buyer in the wings.
And what does Hicks do to alleviate away from fan pressure? Sell Gerrard, Torres? To reduce the wage bill and recoup on club assets to make up on below par revenue to finance a 100% loan!!!! How does that win fans over???
The choice comes down to one simple question on who should own this club.
Which one has history of supporting it?Last edited by Kronenburg1892; 13-03-08, 12:14 AM.
