All this talk of hyppia suddenly being a bag of ****e and finished at liverpool because Agger is playing well is pissing me off. Agger has to play, end of. hes playing out of his skin and to drop him after such good performances at such a young age could set his confidence back a mile. But why cant you praise one player without ripping another to bits? Agger looks like hes gonna be great, yes, no denying that, but big sami was and still is one of the best centre halves in the game. Dont tell me hes lost his pace, hes never ****in had any. He reads the game better than anyone, thats why hes never needed pace. My point im trying (very drunkenly) to make is, why is it sami thats got to be dropped for agger? from what ive seen this season, sami is playing well. Its carra thats having a nightmare. No-one likes carra more than me, but current form should always be what its about, and sami and agger are the ones on form.

I'm just really chuffed we now seem to have another CB who is good enough to take some of the load off of Hyppia and Carra. Anyone who disses Sami is talking out of their hole, he's an absolute legend at this club and still capable of performing at the highest level, but we do have to be looking to the future and he can't go on forever.
Agger for me has been one of the saving graces of the first few games this season...I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Well as Rafa himself said Agger is more of a Sami type player, and if he's preparing him for the future then he needs to play with Carra and not Hyyia. I still think Hyypia should play, particularly in europe, but I see no reason o mess around with our defense to much. Maybe we could see Paletta play more in Carra's place when he's ready as he's meant to be more in the Carra mould.Originally posted by paulcooper4All this talk of hyppia suddenly being a bag of ****e and finished at liverpool because Agger is playing well is pissing me off. someone else suggested 3-5-2 and while its not a system i'm fond of it may be the only way we can put out a side at the moment that doesn't have very obvious flaws in. i think agger having license to step out with the ball may make this an interesting idea. the lad has been hugely impressive so far for me. as to sami, he's been written off before many times, but he's still here.

Carra starts ahead of Hyypia for one reason.......he fires up everyone around him. Hyypia doesnt do this, thats why he was a ****e captain (don't get me wrong im a massive fan of big Sami).
Agger as i said in my post a week ago is the future.....and he is playing to well to drop. The more he plays the better he looks, so unfortunately for big Sami, Agger gets the start.
I dont know where you are getting this "Sami is ****e" stuff from though, i didnt say that in my thread, i just said he was looking incredibly slow......which he is! And he cant pass a football to save himself lately. Agger on the other hand has the ability to not only run the ball out of defence, but also pick a sublime pass out."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

I haven't seen any such comments. Like you said, you can't drop Agger in his form given that Hyypia has started the season so poorly (especially in the absence of Riise).
Hyypia is still a great player though and there's still a good few seasons in his legs yet! If Agger becomes the player Hyppia has been then he'll be doing more than alright!...

Hyypia is still a great player, but i think Agger coming in will help him. Hyypia's getting older, so I think he should be cover for Agger rather than the other way around. I know this is sacrilege to some, but that way Hyypia stays fresh and can perform to his maximum every game he plays.
For me, yesterday was the final test for Agger - a big, strong, quick PL striker in the 'lions dens', as Kuyt says - and he passed with flying colours. He's not one for the future, he's one for now, and you have to congratulate Rafa on the way he bled him into the team over 6 months - just like we used to do.

Hyppia is a legend I agree, but I believe Agger has been our best player this season. Agger fills the Hyppia role in much the same way that Paletta fills the Carra role. That is why I think our first choice should be Carra and Agger. This is not because Sami has become **** overnight, but because Agger has been the better player this season.Originally posted by cobainWell this happens all the time. Just wait when Agger makes a mistake and everyone will slate him and want Paletta or Antwi!
Hyypiä is a legend!!! No questions asked, thank you!"The definition of insanity is not running into the same wall again and again; it's expecting a different result every time you do it."

It's not just about defending with Agger - he looks so accomplished with the ball at his feet. He reminds me of Alan Hansen - he really does.Originally posted by CacodemonWe all know how good Sami is, yet Agger is showing himself to be a very good player and one deserving of his place at the moment, easily our best defender this season so far.
A Jocky Hansen who can bang them in from 30 yards. That's some player.
Sami is still an important player for this club and while we can't complain too much about his lack of pace (he never had any), his poor distribution has been far noticeable for that last couple of years. It's even more evident now when you see what Agger can do bringing the ball out of defence.
