I think we need quite a bit of first-team surgery. In a fantasty world, I'd buy a new right-back, left-back, right-winger, left-winger and a striker.

His final delivery isnt great, i like Young or Agbonlahor for squad players, but there value would far exceed there ability. Maybe a cheeky one for lennnon. Dunno tbh, liverpool depress me recently.

diego capel from sevilla would do nicely on the left. he's got all the skills of a great winger but what i like about him is his fearlessness- he loves taking people on, he's aggressive, he's a real threat down the left. something we've been lacking for years is a winger who can get past his man, score goals, and deliver a good final ball

Part of the reason why Alves has become such a wanted man is that he's got a Kanoute to aim at in the middle. That's not to say he isn't a fine player regardless of what team he is in but Alves is great at delivering the ball into the box and Kanoute is the perfect foil for this.

I think any formation that has Nando playing up top on his own is doomed to failure. It baffles me why people want to take a great striker whose main attributes are his pace, dribbling and finishing on the deck and force him to challenge for balls in the air and get lumps kicked out of him by two big burly central defenders. He isn't in the Adebayor, Heskey or Drogba mould. The closest we have to that is Crouch.

The other point I would make is that Torres thrives on having space to move into. That isn't going to happen if he is the lone striker, the focal point of the attack himself.
