The problem here is that this has happened far too many times this season. Fair enough if the players let you down for the one off game, but when it carries on for as long as it has, then questions have to be asked.Javier Mascherano: 'I want to be settled and kill myself on the pitch so the team wins lots of games'

Maybe they do but I'd say the questions have to be asked of them as much as Rafa. Bunch of overpaid, whinging prima donnas.Originally posted by stevie_gerrard_8 View PostThe problem here is that this has happened far too many times this season. Apart for Reina, Masch, Torres.
BTW Masch should be future captain as he's the only player that would die for the club.Javier Mascherano: 'I want to be settled and kill myself on the pitch so the team wins lots of games'

agreed, rafa is being made somewhat if a scapegoat.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostMaybe they do but I'd say the questions have to be asked of them as much as Rafa. Bunch of overpaid, whinging prima donnas.
wouldnt you know both goals yesterday came from JAR's side. woeful, what has happened to xabi alonso?, crouch should have a good look at himself if he thinks his performances are good enough for lfc, where are our leaders? and could go on and on
players must shoulder the blame for their individual poor performances

Yes, that's correct. But where we must differ, is that i feel, when the players 'cant be arsed', it's down to the manager to MAKE them be arsed.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostAgain Syd, what about the players? You are blaming yesterday on Rafa yet you are saying that even without the likes of Torres/Gerrard we should still be in 4th?
Totally contradicting yourself. If we are good enough with Torres etc to get 4th then we should have been good enough to beat Barnsley yesterday but we werent were we? Why? Cos the majority of the players look like they can't be arsed thats why!
The manager has to get the best out of what he has to work with and i dont think Rafa is the man to do that anymore. Our current league position and poor performances against lower league opposition suggests he isnt the man.

Sarah, if you're being half arsed at work and not performing on a consistent basis, it's down to your manager to sort it. If your manager doesnt sort it and you continue to be a liability, then your manager is accountable. Either he ships you out or he gets shipped out himself, because, by allowing you to continue failing to perform, he's not doing his job.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostMaybe they do but I'd say the questions have to be asked of them as much as Rafa. of course we had enough to beat barnsley, but why didnt we? do you think that maybe, just maybe it might have been down to the fact that our boardroom is a warzone, our chief executive seems to of done a lucan, rafa's been backstabbed and humiliated by the yanks (jol left for less) and the players are all looking at each other going wtf?Originally posted by DJS View PostThis same boring old argument...
Even without his 'first choice players', rafa should still have us comfortably 4th...
Are you telling me he hasnt been backed enough to beat barnsley?
Give over.
lfc under 12's could of beaten barnsley, the fact we didnt means our club,at the mo is in tatters.ps3 fanclub member#1

JAR has been **** for the past 2 to 3 seasons and the sooner he is gone the better. The guy pisses me off no end. How he can have the cheek to take home £120 grand a month and not put any effort in makes me want to slap the ginger all over L4. I know alot of players are doing the same but he stands out more than anyone.
What is it with Liverpool and buying duffers?
Are we turning into the new Newcastle united?
Apart from last summer how many players have we made a profit from over the past 6 years or so because it cannot be many I would say 4 or 5.
Bad business deals from the club if you ask me for example £10 million for Anelka or £10 million for Diouf? £14 million for Cisse? £10 million for Kuyt.
We have spend as much as united over the years the only difference is United bought quality as we bought quantity of ****e.
Should we have Kept Bellamy for another season to partner torres? as i think they would of been great together?

Respnse to DJS
But in my opinion if players can't be arsed they should be the ones to go. The amount of money they are earning, the adoration from fans, the celebrity status most of them get now. They SHOULD be ****ing arsed. That pisses me off much more than Rafa making a substitution too late. Rafa clearly does give a **** about Liverpool and he's not perfect but **** me if all that isn't enough for them players then nothing Rafa says to them will be.RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFA! So the boardroom stuff prevents rafa from picking the right team, using the right tactics and motivating the players?Originally posted by pezzzer View Postof course we had enough to beat barnsley, but why didnt we? do you think that maybe, just maybe it might have been down to the fact that our boardroom is a warzone, our chief executive seems to of done a lucan, rafa's been backstabbed and humiliated by the yanks (jol left for less) and the players are all looking at each other going wtf?

I think though that it would be reasonable to compare Rafa's current situation with the end of the Mourinho reign at Chelsea. You say that Mourinho would be a good option for us due to his motivation skills but when external influences undermined his authority at Chelsea he seemed to struggle to do so and as a consequence so did Chelsea.Originally posted by DJS View PostYes, that's correct. So you dont think part of the manager's job is to motivate them?Originally posted by Red_hot View PostBut in my opinion if players can't be arsed they should be the ones to go. And should we sell virtually the whole team then?
This is what i mean about people refusing to blame rafa for it. Yes, the players are responsible, but there's a chain of command here, and the manager HAS to do his job too.
If he cant motivate them, why doesnt he drop them?

Absolutely.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostNo, if i'm not doing my job properly and a word from my manager isn't enough then I'd be out the door!
But what if your manager doesnt kick you out? What if he leaves you there, consistently under performing? What happens then? Your manager is then made accountable, because by leaving you to continue under performing, he's failing to do his job, isnt he?
