It was the fella's debut, in on loan i think, and my God, what a debut. Former Man U youngster. Wont have any problems getting a full time contract after that display.

Despite the pressure he came under the Barnsley keeper did not make an error in the biggest game of his life. Our 2nd keeper was calamitous. I know its only one game but why is our backup keeper so poor. Reserve Charles Itandje isn't just an accident waiting to happen, he ought to be wearing an ambulance siren on his head.

He was hopeless against the minnows of Havant and Waterlooville in the last round — but this was an exhibition of uselessness barely witnessed in a Liverpool player.

I'm not Charlie's biggest fan, but such a woeful, wildly inaccurate report beggars belief to the moon and back. He hesitated slightly on the cross for the first goal, but could do little about the header. For the second, again his positioning may be questioned to an extent, but you'll probably see half a dozen worse goalkeeping errors every week in the Premier league alone. Other than that he did relatively well.

If you're looking for players to point the finger at for our current malaise, it's a bit disingenuous to single out the bleeding second choice goalie.

Whilst I disagree with much of Bascombes comments I find them no different to the opinion of that of a lot of the people who I sit next to in the Kop at various games.

He's obviously laying it on thick for effect and to make it as sensational as possible for that rag to cash in on, however..... Charlie was awful today, never looked comfy and palmed/punched/dropped most things that came his way.
