    Jamie Carragher

Ok, i am prepared to be slated for this.

But, his performances are slowly becoming worse and worse.

Could it be he's feeling complacent? Other than Reina, he is probably our most selected player, even more so than Gerrard.

With Agger out injured, and Skrtel only new, he doesn't really have any competition for his spot.

An aspect of his game that really gives me the ****s is his hoofing. People constantly whinge about Hyypia's distribution, but at least he tries to pick out a player, Carra will just send it upfield, high in the air with not apparent target.

I know he's a ****ing quality defender on his day, but IMO he really needs to pick up his performances, they have been very lackluster of late.
    On the Ning Nang Nong
    Where the Cows go Bong!
And the Monkeys all say Boo!
    There's a Nong Nang Ning
    Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots Jibber Jabber Joo.
    On the Nong Ning Nang
    All the mice go Clang!
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
    So it's Ning Nang Nong!
    Cows go Bong!
    Nong Nang Ning!
    Trees go Ping!
    Nong Ning Nang!
    The mice go clang!
What a noisy place to belong,
Is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!

All players have bad periods in their careers.maybe being from Liverpool means that the off the field crap is effecting him more than most off our team.

ive been thinking the same all season mate.

He has been pretty ordinary this season. What was he doing for that goal last night BTW..he ****ing turned his back on it, the last person you'd expect to turn their back on a shot was Carra.

          Let me defend him then

I believe the reason we arent seeing the best of Jamie is because he is becoming so fed up with our useless attackforce. He is constantly put under pressure because of a useless midfield and a useless strikeforce.

It doesnt help that Agger is out and he has to work even harder to cover for Sami's lack of pace. We are useless at defending crosses and set-pieces and it just adds to the pressure on him.

We go 1-0 up and then miss a million chances. This puts pressure on the defence because at 1-0 anything can happen and teams know that we are toothless. We then become under pressure at the back and eventually concede

Its not Carra's fault. He is not past it

We need to stop chopping and changing the defence and our attack needs to sort itself out and kill teams off

sorry but taht does not excuse the type of elementary errors carra has made this season. to me it looks like his body is starting to go on him. he looks absolutely knackered by the end of games and loses his concentration. that pen he gave away against west ham was a disgrace, if anyone else had made such a stupid tackle they'd have been run out of the club

Carra has and is still being a fantastic servant to this club. He ain't a robot and he deserves a little bit more respect imo.

****ing legend of a player. Always puts 200% and never ever gives in. A truly rare commodity these days.

he gets more respect than any other player in the team, but he shouldn't be above criticism

no one is doubting that he is a legend, but it's clear to see all is not right with him this season. perhaps he is human afterall

Yes he is. And the team playing badly as a whole hasn't helped his form mate. I never look at individuals, I always try to look at it from a collective perspective. This is how it should be done.

Yes a player can't be performing to the best of his ability, and that's not to say that he has to still be in the team. But, if a player rarely ever puts a foot wrong and once of a sudden he has a couple of bad runs, this should be put into perspective.

i know what you're saying, the same can be said for gerrard. there is a poisonous atmosphere at the club at the moment, and it is certainly effecting the players. but the types of errors carra is making are so uncharacteristic of his play the last couple seasons it is worrying because he has been our rock during our best periods of rafa's tenure. he was never the most athletic CB around and he's getting to that age when it takes longer and longer for the body to recover after a match. he's had some injury problems this season as well and that certainly hasn't helped

I've been wondering for some time if Carra's been playing with some kind of injury this season. I guess with Agger having been out so long we'll never really know, but Carra hasn't looked quite right for several months imo.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue

                        Mine angry and defrauded young?

I hope you prove to be right because he's had a poor season by his standards.

For the record - I dont buy that hes getting more pressure put on him because we arent putting our chances away. I understand the comment, but Carra more than most puts the whole team under pressure with his woeful distribution which gives the ball back to our opposition on most occasions. He punts the ball up to the strikers so often these days that i believe it has to be instruction from Rafa to bypass the midfield. Carra is an intelligent player who has the capability to mix his distribution up sometimes but he never does.

As much as I agree with you re: Carra's poor distribution, Riise and Sami are much worse at just hoofing it upfield all the time! Why is this? Is it down to being told to do this by Rafa? Or do the midfield never drop back into space to give them any other options?? It is sooo frustrating to watch this all the time, especially against so-called inferior opposition like Barnsley. It's as if they don't trust themselves/our midfield to pass to, so just take the easy option of hoofing it up to Crouch. We should have been able to pass through their midfield.
