the guy is a liverpool legend but unfortunatily the only time you ever hear something from him he is criticizing someone within the team.

At risk of offending people I'd hazard a guess and say that Tommy would get a greater level of support for his comments from people who actually lived and grew up in the city. No proof, just a guess

I applaud his latest pontifications wholeheartedly.
all he's done is increased the pressure on rafa , needless and stupid on his behalf, the last thing we need is ex players slagging off rafa and the players. disapointing from him imo

i see it is the main story on football365

Possibly because during his era the club were followed predominantly by locals and not OOTs and fans from abroad. He,for me, personifies everything that was once great about the club and the game. If you weren't around to witness what a fantastic player and influence on the team that he was then you're hardly likely to understand the level of passion and love for the club he shows. Albeit sometimes a touch inarticulately. Because of what he was and given the near 20 year career he had at the club I'd say he's entitled to voice an opinion without being called an idiot and a cunt and a ****er .

I take it you never supported a Liverpool team with Tommy Smith in it then? If you had then you wouldn't speak about him with such disrespect.

not sure you have to be from the city to really appreciate our players

and ive no problem with him having an opinion, just find it very annoying that his opinions are only made public when he is criticizing, which is all he ever does.

Finding it annoying is one thing calling him a cunt and a ****er is something else entirely

I'm 28 so wasnt around for Tommy's days. I'm not treating him with disrespect, all im saying is that him having a pop in the press does no good. And the disrespect he shows to our manager and players each week is shocking. Read his echo coloums, he never says anything positive, its always about having a go and saying Shankly would be turning in his grave.

****s sake, get someone in to kiss their arses before every game as well.
Well said That is Rafa's stance really. You hare here to play for the team, It's not my fecking job to motivate you. You have a privillaged position and you need me to blow smoke up your arse? Get out there and play. I will look after you though. My career was ****ed at an early age I don't want yours going the same way. Not becasue I like you mind, rather you are no used to me in a hospital bed. Oh and heres 50k a week to be getting on with. Football has become a game by boys doing their pissing up a wall trick. There is no team work in that game. That is why Gerrard first wanted to go to the Russians, came back from england duty with small dick syndrome after losing the pissing competition to the scum and chelskie lads. Learn to piss higher rather than asking someone to give you a hand up to do it.

Fair do's mate[/QUOTE]I saw the latter half of his career, and thought he was a thug. The man hated Emlyn hughes and it showed. So much for teamwork. He did score the winning coal in a certain cup final but by analogy - having phil collins play you in a film about your life does not take away from the fact that you were a criminal involved in a venture were someone lost who was merely doing his job their life to your seslfish actions. In fact that is insult to injury.

I grew up in the city, and I'm sorry, but I think he is just jumping on the bandwagon. Some of what he says might be true, but its the lowest common denominator opinion (i.e. it is easy to challenge the rotation policy - a bit harder to point out where it might be right, and where it might be wrong).

As such, he isn't adding anything other than more pressure on the club which is exactly what it doesn't need right now.

Having said that, of course he is entitled to his opinion - I just wish he could be more positive once in a while. He certainly shouldn't be abused for having that opinion - bandwagon or not.
