      John Aldridge

Was listening to the radio city phone in yesterday after the game and John went beserk on some bloke who phoned in and critised pennant and gerrard.

The passion and commitment he had to our players was fantastic. None of this stupid doom and gloom reaction most people are putting on our season. Anyway i was thinking there must surely be a place for Aldo in our setup.
A bit of scouse passion in the changing rooms. No disrespect to the current coaches but none of them strike me as someone who can get them going in that sense.
Aldo for coach i say. And he would have the respect of the players.

Rafa god, pako and Alex miller with there tatical genius sorting that side of things out, and Aldo being Mr motivator getting some fire into the bellies ready to kick ass!

Im getting a bit sick of listening to criticism alreay myself if im honest, especially so early in the season, we have one of the best managers in the world, and a great squad that is just settling down through one of the toughest starts anyone could have had in the leage, things will turn around.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Me too, we must be around the same age. Absolutely adored that team of Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge- and Barnes whipped crosses in from the left and Aldo got on the end of them with headers, volleys etc.

                Happy days.

ay well i'm 24 going on 25 - I remember that season well. I had the season review on......VHS - it was called The Mighty Reds and starts of all gloomy cause we had sold Rush and then goes on about how we had signed Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge to strentghen the squad and shows the three of them walking through melwood. The video also included the full 90 minutes of the 5-0 win against forest (think it was 5 can't remember)

It was also around this time that I was lucky enough to go to melwood for the day and meet all the players. My grandad found a wallet in the Albert Dock and it turned out to be Steve Nicol's, he met my grandad as was made up to get it back etc, he and my grandad got talking and Steve Nicol arranged for us to have a day at melwood were we got treated like kings.

                        ah..memories
