In the spring of 1986 Football Focus did an article on him while he was still at Oxford in which he told of his love for Liverpool. We played them that afternoon and hammered them 6-0. Late in the game an Oxford player was down receiving treatment and the Kop chanted "Aldridge, Aldridge what's the score?". He raised 6 fingers in an embarrassed gesture. The Kop then chanted - "Aldridge is a Kopite". Everton lost at Luton that day and the gap narrowed to a couple of points.
