We actually looked more balanced than we have done for a while, and more importantly all of our players put the effort it.

That's what we're talking about. Quality performance against an excellent side, playing as only Italian teams can too.

Kuyt had a superb second half, not just for the goal either. We needed his workrate out there to make space, it doesn't change the rest of the season but tonight, the lad done very well imo.

Two points. One - reading through the match thread there was not one criticism of Kuyt's play in this game, in fact he was behind most of our best moments.
Two - you are right, it does not change a horrible season, but it does show what he can do. A Kuyt with confidence and form has a place in our team ... and its not on the bench.

Perfect example of the motivation issue tonight...

Games like this, they DONT need motivating for - did you notice how everyone was up for it, everyone gave 100% and there was drive, passion and desire.

Games against 'little' barnlsey and 'little' luton - totally different. The players arent up for it and rafa hasnt been able to get them up for it.

That was the difference tonight.
