    Cordoba out for 2nd leg

GET IN! Should make life a bit easier as he was awesome last night

Shame about the seriousness of his injury -wish he'd had an in-growing toenail or something instead

Inter have announced that their Colombian defender Ivan Cordoba will need an operation to his knee after suffering cruciate ligament damage.

The Nerazzurri were beaten by The Reds at Anfield 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League knockout stages.

This means that Inter will have a defensive crisis for the second leg as Walter Samuel is still injured, Cordoba needs surgery and Marco Materazzi will be suspended for being sent off during the Liverpool game.

A statement on the club’s official website reads: “Inter’s medical staff have concluded their examination of Ivan Cordoba after his injury during the UEFA Champions League game against Liverpool.

“He has a torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the Colombian defender will undergo surgery.”

This is not the news Inter were hoping for. They will struggle to overturn the 2-0 deficit from the first leg and it will be even more difficult now that three of their first team defenders are out.

While I kind of agree with your sentiment, there aren't many players I'm happy for when they get what sounds like a bad injury!

It certainly leaves them short, but I feel sorry for the lad. He was awesome last night.

        Unfortuanate for him

All we have to do is play 4-5-1, soak up the pressure and hit them on the counter. If we sneak 1 goal they will have to then score 4

        Were massive favourites now

Super player - shame to see someone like that get such an injury

Will definetely be missed against us, I would prefer to be facing Materazzi to be honest as I think he's a liability but he's obviously suspended - looks like 1 goal against their second choice centre halves should do it

which is why we should go for the jugular! Hit them unexpected like the barca away match. If we sit back, extra time is quite likely.

Not necessarily, Inter have to attack, we defend well and hit them on the counter with Torres

Cordoba was just magnificent last night - awful news about his injury. Inter WILL miss him.

No i dont agree. With the defensive quality we have we can stop them and keep them at bay. As time goes on they will become more desperate and start committing more and more players forward. Thats when we will be dangerous and can hit them on the break and kill the tie

they still have Chivu and Burdisso.

Chivu was immense last night, and Burdisso is no slouch.

defo mate, think we should just hit them early and kill it off.

You see that injury a lot in aussie rules football, no contact, a player landing awkwardly, does an acl and sits on the sidelines for a season.
