    Showed him in the crowd at Anfield the other night beside Capello.
    Isn't he a Liverpool fan? Think so anyway.
    Probably a bit of a **** topic but anyhow.

            As much as he is a Liverpool fan didnt he favour Everton getting the CL place over us when we won Big Cup?

              He did. But I think that was more about the FA trying it on with Uefa, hoping to get 5 English teams in the CL. Backfired on them though.

                  Well yeah it did. But it proved to be a farce.

                  We were Champions of Europe and should have taken our rightful role straight in the group stages as top seed. Instead we had the ignominy of going to places like Wales and Lithuania to play silly qualifiers, while Everton went into the 3rd qualifying round and fell at the very first hurdle. The team the FA backed got knocked out straight away.

                  The FA were involved in a game of brinkmanship with UEFA. They gambled with our place in the CL and if they lost it's us who would have paid the price. Pretty scandalous in my book.

                  You know, it was actually the FA that petitioned for us to go into the first qualifying round. It was their idea. In the season when we were representing England in a European Super Cup Final and at the World Club Championships in Japan, the FA sugested we play those 3 qualifying round swhen by rights we should have gone straight into the group stages. I wonder if they hadn't suggested that whether we might have gone straight in to the group stages.
