"We delivered a big performance when needed " etc bollox, ****, arse!!!

It was needed against Villa, Chelsea and Mancs etc, not Inter.

He said that the Champions league is the most important competition in the world and this is where our basic fundimental problem lies because it isnt, the ****ing premiership is, how can we say we are champions of europe when we are not champions of our own country.

    Grrrrr...
seems we have to have a moan for moanings sake now FFS. are we in danger of becoming this self pitty club after all

we've gone through a bad patch where the press, fans have said we're not good enough.

we turn over the team with the best record in europe over the last 5/6 months

what better game to make a point, what better result to boost confidence, what better time for the players to say we can do it you know.

I just see the comments, best competition etc as that you are playing the best and we came out on top, lets get some confidence from it.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

Possibly apart from England the rest of the world considers the champions league as the most prostegious cup you can win, i dont think many people realise how important it the Champions League to many players.

Look at Torres he wanted to be here because of Champions league football to test himself against the best of europe, to feel the energy of champions league night at Anfield.

For me Rafa needs to win it one more time and then we will see a huge difference in our mentality. Rafa in my opinion wants to go down as great as Paisley he just wants the champs league first.

          I maybe wrong though.

And coming from a foreign player like Lucas, it's even more understandable.

Can't understand why these comments from Lucas would make any Red 'angry'??!
I agree, we just beat on paper arguably the best team in Europe, why shouldnt he be excited?!

Even Torres has said that night like Inter are [or one of the reasons] why he joined Liverpool. The kids that grow up dreaming of beating Everton on the last day of the season or scoring the winning goal in the FAC Final seem to be a dying breed.

Maybe the younger foreign lads see the Champions League as a way of showing those back home how far they have come when they see them on the TV playing against the biggest names in football?
Great point. Even for myself as a lifelong fan - if I was a player I'd probably rather experience Anfield on a big Euro night than pretty much anything else, the roof just comes off in a way it doesn't in the league, even against our biggest rivals

                  Not another one?

How on earth can some of you lot make beating one of the best sides in Europe such a negative thing?

Ok, so the league's been **** this year, and its not good enough. But can't we, and the players, especially one who just played his first game in what is the biggest club competition in the world, just get a little licence to enjoy it?

No wonder things are so tetchy and negative around the club at the moment

And we can quite easily say we are the champions of Europe, all we have to do is have Stevie G lift ol' big ears in Moscow in May

People seem to be jumping at the chance to take quotes out of context and spin them to suite their own agendas. Saw it with Kuyt's interview after the game and now this one. Pretty standard quotes that are harmless and typical player-speak

I think people are so disappointed with the league campaign this season they are becoming over critical and negative about EVERYTHING. Even when they are given a great performance against a top team it's not good enough, 'we should be doing better in the league.' Well we should be doing better in the league, but that doesn't take away from a great win against Inter. You can't have it all, you have no god given right to have it all, so just enjoy what you do have and stop all the spoiled bitching and moaning and get behind the team
