The question was put to Rafa today. Would you rather win the CL and finish outside the top 4. Or finish in the top 4? He said the former (I'm not convinced he understood the question properly though).

Financially, obviously winning the CL would do more for our transfer budget next year, but I don't know the idea of missing out on the top 4 rankles. And what about the psychology of it, we have enough confidence in the CL games but it is the EPL that I am most worried about.

The main reason for finishing in the top 4 is to make the CL, otherwise there's not much difference between 4 and 5 or 6 for me. So this is a no-brainer. CL by a mile.

Champions League for me too, we would qualify for the next seasons CL by winning it and 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Premier League mean nothing to me in comparison. Only winning the league would top winning the Champions League.

We're in this game to win cups, not to finish fourth. No one is going to look back at this season and say 'Remember 2007/08 when we had that wonderful fourth place finish.' People still tend to remember 2005 though for some reason.

Probably would have been a different answer if the choice was win league or CL. I'd rather win CL than come second in league.

But I'm not sure he'd gamble 4th for CL. That's a completely different matter and there's less chance involved in securing 4th

LFC exists to win trophies, simple as. How anyone can take a 4th place PL finish ahead of another CL triumph is beyond me.

It would guarantee entry into that competition next season and more importantly would mean 'No. 6'! We could finish 6th as long as we win the CL, in my opinion. It would be a very poor season domestically, for sure, but at the end of the day, as fans, winning trophies is our aim and to qualify for the CL every year.

The media are just looking for the "Rafa prefers the CL to the Premiership" quotes to sell papers.

I think if you offered Fergie, Wenger, Grant or Rafa the choice of winning the Champions League and finishing out of the top four or finishing fourth, I doubt anybody would choose finishing fourth.

People are starting to talk like the European Cup is some sort of Carling Cup for Europe. There is not a team in Europe that would not want to win that above finishing 4th or for that matter 3rd/2nd even 1st. Why are we suddenly above winning it and should choose 4th over 5th and Big Cup. Its bollocks.
