Them two games were live on sky sports and setanta respectively today so i don't see any reason why them knobs won't put the Liverpool, Boro match on.
Especially as it was a cracker - 5 goals, a bit of handbags with the sending off, a few(?) disallowed goals and a hat-trick.

You wait and see marky. It's obvious that the mancs and arsenal will be 1st.

They MIGHT put Arsenal on first though, as it was first chronologically and they can do their "Arsenal had the chance to go EIGHT points clear of United..." and then "So with Arsenal only managing a point, United could close the gap to three points with a win at Newcastle.."

Love these threads. Loads of you come on here and just list all the negatives you can find. Why? Why cant you just be happy with 3 points and quite an entertianing game (ie lots going on)? Not vintage by any means, but does it matter right now? Not many have mentioned the many (yes many) great flowing attacks we launched. At times (as is often the case) we played some sublime stuff. You lot should try being a bit less critical ALL the time.

I thought we weren't very good at all to be fair Steve. I'm glad to get the 3 points but there was a hell of a lot wrong with that performance in my view. Thank God for some Boro errors and for some Torres brilliance.

fair enough, i was just having a laugh.

i think it's just as daft that people come on here after EVERY match win or lose with the aid of hindsight and say they know better than a top manager who has won so much

I dont think people do it after every game, and neither do they say they know better than Rafa.

It's baffling because we take the same approach to playing Inter Milan, setting up all cautious with one striker and three central midfielders, as we do to playing Middlesbrough. I just don't get that. We all saw the difference Crouch (and Pennant) coming on late made on Tuesday. Tipping the game in our favour. But we go with the exact same formation to play the mighty smoggies because apparently they're the next Inter Milan.

I have to agree with you bf.

I can understand two defensive midfielders holding deep in a 3 man midfield when playing Inter Milan, but not against Boro. We won thanks to a combination of horrendous Boro defending and Torres brilliance, but the rest of it was pretty mediocre to be honest.

And still too often when one of our players has the ball, his mates sell him down the river by leaving him unsupported and unhelped.

to be fair, he's being criticised for his domestic stuff where he hasn't challenged let alone won anything of value (an fa cup is nice and all but very much garnish for the main meal).

besides, surely you have criticised a manager and been proven right. ged won lots too. he's won lots since. yet i'm still sure that the way he had us playing here was pants.

Seems to be a common factor in threads DJ posts in.You`ll never win an arguement no matter how good your point is,best not to make the effort.

Pretty poor performance overall but a stellar performance from Torres saved the day. We really need to increase our movement off the ball.

Main reason I wanted to post though was to give credit to Middlesborough for coming to Anfield and trying to play football instead of parking the bus like most teams seem to do against us now. Thought they played some good stuff too at times.
