Loved Sissoko and Alonso in the centre with Gerrard on the right during that spell.

To be fair to him, he put a really good spell together at Juventus for a season and a half or so after leaving us. So it wasn't just the eye. I remember the one through ball that Pirlo or Alonso would have been proud of. Winning it outside his area and hitting it almost the distance of the pitch. Picked up an injury in his 3rd season which was probably the end though.

When he was clean through on goal against United in maybe his 2nd or 3rd appearance and missed the ball I knew immediately what the situation was did more good for us when he was at Sunderland than here.

Momo was a great character - the eye goggles and the Ballack tackle were wonderful - but in truth he was great at winning the ball, but quickly became useless at using it. So a limted player.
