Spirit Of Shankly - Half Time Tonight

Just recieved this e-mail of a mate.

TONIGHT. HALF TIME. IT ENDS NOW.

Since DIC made their statement yesterday everything you hear suggests Liverpool's supporters want, en masse, to make their feelings known about what they want the current owners to do. Go, and go now. It's clear that tonight's game against West Ham is a terrific opportunity. So let's do this:

15 minutes of solid protest from the minute the half time whistle goes. Wherever you are in the ground, make your voice heard.

Every single one of you has to share the responsibility to join in. Don't wait for others to take the lead, don't feel self conscious. Get involved, get rowdy. Let's stand together.

Those of you who feel that it's hard to get the message out, those of you who feel it's hard to educate people, well have another go now, be emphatic:

They said they wouldn't do a Glazer and buy the club with its own money. They have. We'll be paying off 30m a year for them to own our club.
They said there would be a spade in the ground within 60 days of taking over. Still no start date for the stadium. And they still haven't secured the money to buy it.

They said they'd back our traditions and way of doing things. They offered the manager's job to Jurgen Klinsmann and then discussed it publicly
They haven't spent a penny of their own money – all the signings are on the never never. When does the never never end?For this investment of theirs to work they need us to finish fourth year in, year out and get the stadium built. Success for Kop Holdings and success for LFC are not the same thing.

If you feel people need educating, people in your work, your school, your boozer, your house, print that out and give it to them. Talk to them. Tell them why you are so angry, tell them why we need change. No one is saying DIC will be perfect but it'll be fresh start, a chance to move this football club which we all love forward.

Hicks and Gillett dragged this club through the mud and have wasted a year of our time. It ends now. They should go now.

Tonight. Half time. Tell Hicks and Gillett exactly that.

I think its a good idea, altho i doubt it will achieve anything. If anything it will send the message to IC not to walk away and stay persistant.

I completely agree with the sentiment but would prefer this was left until the second the final whistle blows. Tonight is a major game and the team dont need any more distractions than they already have.

          I agree with this.

Before the game and during support the team at half time tell the yanks what we think.

Not that it will do any good.
**** OFF HICKS AND GILLETT WE DON'T WANT YOU.

Go for it! It def can't hurt and will send a message to the current owners and DIC, and hopefully help drive the yanks out of here!!

It might not help, but without trying we can be sure nothing will be heard!!!

Not sure about this at all. If DIC are watching, they'll be thinking, "**** LFC - unless we do exactly what the fans want then they'll just organise more protests, bring negative publicity to the club and lower the value."

Why would DIC buy a club where the fans seemingly have more power and say than the owners?

What the fans need to realise is that they aren't in charge of the club. They can't dictate to the owners how the club "should" be run (as that differes from person to person), and they can't throw their toys out of the pram and start protest marches everytime something doesn't go their way. People really need to grow up on this forum and stop thinking that they're more important than they actually are.

Surely it would be viewed as a massive ego boost to DIC no?

The long term future is more important than one game or one season.

Even if it meant finishing fifth and miss out on the CL.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Have you ever heard the saying "the customer is always right"????

This is the basic principle of running a business - simple as. If you don't keep your paying audience happy, you have no business. H+G are aware of this, so I am sure DIC have an idea as well...

If you as a consumer (in this case of football matches, merchandise etc.) are not happy, you should show it in some fashion - that is the only way the owners will know. This has absolutly nothing to do with being childish, it is about not wanting new owners to mess up a otherwise satisfactory product (LFC).

If you don't utter your dissatisfaction, you can be sure nothing ever changes and the product we call LFC will be made worse and worse... G+H might be the cooperate owners, but we the fans are the ones who made / makes this club, without our support for the club G+H would own absolutly nothing.

Of course we have the right to protest. IMO it can be discussed how this is done best at present, but can't see anything good coming out of just giving up and let be.

Fine if you are happy the way things are or don't think you have a chance against the mighty all powerfull owners. Others might think otherwise and that does not make them behave like children - it actually makes them fight for what they believe in, even if it is against the odds.

Oh good. I get to go to a protest again tonight. I've lost count of the amount of times I've gone to protest this season, only for a game of football to break out.
Dreams come true. Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them.

My son Foster is a fan of soccer. He was a goaltender. His brother was a defenseman.

God knows. It's reaching overkill now, quite glad I haven't been in since Monday. Everyone's pretty sure Gillett is off though, although when he'll go is hard to tell.
