I'm not a fan of booing ex-players, irrespective of whatever circumstances they left under - he was a fantastic player for us in his prime - he was awesome during the treble season & provided some great memories during the lean times - so now, personally I couldnt give a **** about him - & he did leave us for Real Madrid
He's moved on so have we, no animosity as FFS he's at Newcastle now
Diouf was a prick of a person. He used to spit on people ffs! Michael never did anything wrong, all he did was take an oppertunity most could never even dream of.
I have a funny feeling that he always felt he would go there for a few years and end up returning to LFC. Shame it hasn't happened. A team with torres and Owen is a title winning one.
You're not seriously suggesting that the only difference between us and winning the title would be signing Owen?
Michael Owen is not a Liverpool legend. Obviously a great player for us and I'll never boo him, but he never had that connection with the crowd. I never felt he was "one of us", was always talking about England this and England that.
Booing ex-players is completely classless. Anyone who feels like booing ought to cast their minds back to that sunny afternoon in May 2001.
FFS.
Whatever you think of Owen as a person he did some great things for us when we were a less than sparkling outfit. The way he left was a real downer but he had by then given us a lot to be thankful for. I don't think I could give him a rapturous reception but he does deserve a deal of respect.

Exactly
Without Owen scoring some vital goals during the 2003/04 season we wouldn't have even qualified for the CL in 2004/05, let alone be in a position to win it. This point is conveniently overlooked by some.
I wonder if Rafa would have chose us ahead of Inter had we'd been in the Uefa Cup .........
I don't see how any player who leaves us like he did can be given a great applause upon there return.
He left us in the lurch pure and simple. A £20m+ player leaving for £8m and Nunez FFS! He was offered a good contract and ****ed us of for Real. I have to say I'm delighted the way his career has turned out.
Shows any other **** who thinks of leaving us for more glory the reality of football. Owen had everything at Liverpool but it wasn't enough.
Truly great player for us and a great pro on and off the field. He deserves the respect but not a great homecoming. Nor does he deserve to get booed.
