If DIC get in, AFC Liverpool will suddenly be of less interest to most people IMO.

Are they going to half ticket prices?

Support a local non league club if you want grassroots , There is only one Liverpool

Not to those who can't afford to get in and want football to be something more tangible than a TV show.

There is only one LFC of course.

But surely those who choose grassroots football can support who we want. And if there's nobody out there we want to support then why not create one with a distinct Liverpool identity due to the fact that only Liverpool fans support it.

After all, if you can only afford one game a year (or maybe not even that) how do you raise your kids to understand what "the Liverpool way" is without taking them to a game with fellow Liverpool fans.

Now that AFC Liverpool is in existence, it's no longer a choice between being with fellow Liverpool fans or not. Its a choice between going to Anfield if you can afford to, and going to AFC Liverpool if you can't. Not going to the match with fellow Reds is no longer an option imposed on you.

I think AFC Liverpool is crucial to preserving the Liverpool way and so perserving our heritage. Just because it's too expensive for many no longer means that those kids have to miss out altogether. A whole generation of kids whose only initiation into football is from Andy Gray and Richard Keyes is not something which is good for Liverpool Football Club in my view.

At least this way they get to experience a match with fellow Reds, experiencing the same traditions even if its not watching the same team.

IMO fans who are desperate to see footie everyweek but cant afford it might aswel start following a local non-league team. You cant replicate Liverpool in any way, shape or form

nobody is attempting to. we're simply having a team that represents our community. and our community isn't geographical. it is based around our love of LFC.

Always thought highly of Reade, the only journo out there worth listening to, and a red to boot.

Good to see AFC Liverpool getting some nationwide attention.

We received an apology from Brian Reade this morning about the false way AFC Liverpool was described in his column in today's Mirror.

I refer you to our statement, which also appears on the front page of our website:

Oh Bloody Hell Brian!! A response to the Brian Reade Column
We just want to correct the inaccurate description of AFC Liverpool from Brian Reade's column in the Daily Mirror which described us as "a breakaway team called AFC Liverpool is being formed on the lines of FC United, the club set up by disillusioned Manchester United fans when the Glazers took over."

Brian has wrote to us to apologise stating that he sent this correction but it failed to go in: "As well as SOS, there is a fans' collective called ShareLiverpool trying to buy out the club, and a breakaway team called AFC Liverpool joining the North West Counties League to give working-class people who've been priced out of Anfield the chance to watch players wearing all-red, in the flesh."

We want to reiterate once again that we are NOT a breakaway team that is anti Liverpool. We are pro Liverpool and our target is those people who simply can't afford to go to Anfield to watch our beloved Liverpool. We want to keep those lost Reds together in an LFC community to pass on the Liverpool way to the next generation. We do not want to breakaway from Liverpool or replace Liverpool.

Our reason for being is also nothing to do with the owners!!!! Unless there's an owner on the horizon promising ticket prices that everyone could afford then the ownership issue is irrelevant because we are driven by the affordability of Premiership prices.

We hope Brian will now give us some serious coverage to correct this very damaging and untrue description. We ask those who have come here misinformed by this column to read everything on this website in order to reach a correct view of what we are all about.
