about as quickly as I'd take a fat Micheal Owen.

To be honest mate I think Owen has been in decline for about 4 yrs now. He will recover from his knee injury and will play but i can not see him scaling the heights he once did. He has lost that super pace he had and does not have many other tricks in the bag to make up for it.

I wouldnt take Owen back at all. Fat or fit!

yes. Would be a massive step backwards for us.

parm---a massive step back?a world class striker?
g--------so would you support him then?
rs------never?? so you think a fit mo isnt better than any of our current strikers.??

perhaps some of you forget what he did for the club.
he played in a ****e team a lot of the time and scored a lot of goals.
i can remember a lot of people moaning how little chances we used to create in a game yet owen would nearly always manage to convert 1 or 2.
how would he fare under our current regime where the chances flow all day.
not take him back, your all mad.*

*and yesof course i realise hes out for the season ,but im talking about a fit agin mo.

mate Owen was world class for a few moments, he never sustained it. He certainly is not world class anymore and hasn't been for a long time.
I've not forgotten what he has done for the club but at the end of the day he has lost his one major weapon ie his pace.

Not just a step back, but also a missed opportunity - the opportunity of getting a player who is fit and fits in much better to our style of play.

indeed, Kuyt looks like he's been playing with us for years.
Owen was a great player for us but we ended up being a one man team with him. It always seemed to be "SG get the ball and hit a long pass to Owen" all those ****ing stupid Hollywood passes! We are now much more balanced, fluid and inventive than the Owen years.

Couldn't agree more. It has been amazing to watch Kuyt getting involved, linking up with Bellamy and others, playing one-twos, such a team player - the complete antithesis to Owen.

Even when we were playing with 2 strikers with Owen, it was like only playing with one because all Heskey would is Owen's donkey work for him. No wonder Heskey scored so few goals when his main purpose for being in the team was to help create chances for Owen, either by making space, laying it off for him etc.

The only thing we miss is Owen's clinical finishing from about 5 years ago. Apart from that, we're better off without.
