so you think kuyt will get more than a goal every other game?
    because thats owens record.
as for heskey he actually scored 23 goals in 2000-1
the following year he scored 14 or so
and by the way he didnt score more because his fat arse was on the ground most of the bloody game.
heskey did not do owens donkey work for him im sorry but that is rubbish, if you had said heskey was a donkey then maybe we could have had some common ground

Owen and taking him back......there has been more pointlesss threads started across all the lfc forums than pricks that support Chavski and the Scum put together.

A decent mod would delete this thread

If you could somehow offer me Michael Owen before he got ANY of the numerous serious injuries that he has received, then I'd bite your hand off and leave you a bloody stump and I'd bet a lot of the people who say they don't want him would too.

However, what you are offering now though, is a Michael Owen who, even if he stays fit for the rest of his career after this latest knee injury, is NEVER EVER GOING TO BE THAT GOOD AGAIN. Forgetting any of the crap that goes with Michael Owen, this is the one football reason that most people on here will say no.

He will still score goals, just like Robbie Fowler could, but they will never be at the pinnacle of the game again and they will never get 25+ in a season again.

Time to move on from MO. The past is the past for good reason.

                      Honestly a difficult one.
I have always thought Owen was a great scorer and we could always rely on him.
A fit MO is a top player, and even Stevie G regards him in very higher esteem, and has said he'd take him back in an instant.......

I have to agree with the majority in that signing him would be a step back. I appreciate that the actual question was relating to a fit MO, but that's just fantasy - we may just as well discuss the merits of Benitez signing the young Pele at his peak.
At the end of the day, Owen was a world class player and european footballer of the year - well done to him, now lets move on. for a few years, he had unrivalled pace and decent, not brilliant, finishing skills. Unfortunately, he was a "head down" player with poor control. With pace, you can get away with it. Without pace, all that's left is a slightly faster than average striker with slightly better than average finishing skills, and poor control. I wouldn't pay £5m for him - Rafa was bang on for not competing with Newcastle for his signature.
What angers me most (apart from hearing him bleat about his beloved england all the time), is due to his refusal to sign a new contract and not be upfront about his intentions to leave, we got an insulting amount of money for him at the time. Call me cruel, but I have to laugh at the boy, especially as he left to "compete for major european honours" and "chose" Newcastle over us on his return to england. The year after he left, we won the european cup, and when he came back to england, his ONLY option as newcastle. If Rafa had wanted him, the board would have stumped up.

Owen was never world class. He scored a lot of goals. Yay. Thanks mate.

He also went 9 games or so without scoring. And he did that A LOT. He'd also score about 9 in 6 after that, making up his average.

He also puts ambition before kloyalty far too much for my liking,
