    My Idol

I just finished watching King Kenny's Top 10 Kop Moments. I was appalled, I mean how could they possibly pick out 10 from the hundreds!! Nevertheless I was inspired to write:

On my eighth birthday it was announced that Liverpool were to sign Kenny Dalglish for a transfer record fee between British clubs to replace Kevin Keegan. It didn't matter to me as nobody could replace Keegan, I was still sulking. But, as with all eight year old kids sulks it didn't last for long, although this one seemed to last for less than any other...I had found my new idol.

It would be hard to find the words to express the joy that he gave me over the next fourteen years so I won't even bore people by trying. I guess the one thing I could say is that I see him on TV now, see reruns of some of those games from all of those years gone by and I still feel like that eight year old. Some may come, some may go, but I cannot imagine I will ever hold somebody in the same regard as I do him. Not Rush, not Barnes, not Fowler, not Gerrard, not Torres, all players that have made me glad to be a Liverpool fan.

I met him once and for the only time of my life I was speechless, my throat closed up. So I will say now what I could not say then. Thankyou Kenny for fourteen years of joy, for Wembley 78, for eight league titles, for the Chelsea goal, for the double, for the compassion post Hillsborough, for one hundred and seventy two goals and god knows how many assists, for buying John Barnes, and god knows how many more moments. Most of all thankyou for being the greatest player I will ever see in a red shirt

unfortunately, i am too young to have seen kenny live.

my dad always maintains that people revere about george best and bobby charlton, but in his eyes kenny played in a better team and stood out and was and is the best British Player that he has ever seen. from what i have seen, i cant argue with him

The one thing that impressed me more than anything he did on the pitch was that he had the strength to go to all those funerals after Hillsborough.

The word respect isn't enough in this case.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

King kenny.I was him(and some times Rush) in the playground.

I really see the mirrored image now when my 7 year old runs around being Torres.Awesome.

The words Legend, Great, & many more superlatives are thrown about these days all too often, This is the Caliber of player those words should be reserved for, On & Off the field of play.

Top post .I'm a year younger than you because I was only 7 when he came () , but Kenny Dalglish is my all time hero and the best thing about him was that that big **** off smile that always told you that he was enjoying it as much as you were.

They call players world class after 2 good games these days but Kenny was universal ****ing class

When Keegan left I was really upset, I was about the same age as you. My dad said "This lad coming in is even better". I said "Dad, you can't get better than Kevin keegan!".

Good old dad! Took me to my first 'pool game. I loved it. It wasn't really his thing, but he still took me.

Gifted beyond belief. He "got" us,club and fans alike, which is why he's still here. Best goal at Anfield was his first. Scotland vs Wales in a WC qualifier. Greatest header I've ever seen in my life.

I don't really go to the games, but it would really cheer me up if the crowd still sung "Dalglish!" once in a while.
                              Really?
