Rooney and Ronaldo - take their goals away from the Mancs and they won't be anywhere near as potent a force. Adebayor and Fabregas. Lampard and Drogba. etc etc. Pointless argument and debate. To be fair when they came off we also re-jigged our formation. We took off Pennant - so no crosses for Crouch - and went 3 at the back and the team seemed to be a little unsure of who was playing where. It became very scrappy.

So what you are saying is that when we are 3-0 up and cruising and without our best two players we aren't as good. Obviously Gerrard and Torres are key to us but a little bit of context is needed, clearly players like Babel do offer a threat and would probably do more if we weren't already well up in the game.

As for Crouch what gives that one report in the NOTW more credibility than the batch of interviews with the man himself lately where he seems happy to accept his position in the squad?

As a team we have been playing very well offensively of late. There is a slight worry that we have few one fr one replacements for the players who have provided a good shape to the team. But we rested Kuyt who was doing really well on the right and still won handsomely so it isn't all bad.
