    With Gerrard and Torres......

Do we have the modern day Dalglish and Rush?

With the current formation working so well, and hopefully with the addition of a truly world class right sided player with Babel on the left and Alonso and Mascha in midfield,Gerrard supporting Torres looks to be the formation Rafa has finally cracked imo.

Gerrard has been crying out for someone like Torres, with similar game intelligence and ability.

Gerrard is truly world class, but he also needs world class players along side him.

Were getting there,i really believe that we are very close to no19.

i dont know about the king and the rush, way too early for that type of talk.

    no 19, hmmmm.

we have won 4 on the trot, 3 home games, without actually having to play very well.

tbh, every year about this time, people start saying next year....

we are certainly getting closer, but not there yet, 3 or 4 more quality additions needed, we rely on 2 players too often

    imo.

Maybe...it's working because of the movement the front four are giving us, Gerrard is still **** with his back to goal though

i think crouch has the game inteligence to play with these two, but with the new formation we have adopted, where will he ever fit in ? same goes for voronin.

I know what you mean.If Torres gets injured then we have to really change formations. We don't have anyone else to what Torres is capable of.This formation works because of the ability and pace of Torres and the all round excellence of Gerrard.

Also,we can't underestimate the job 2 out Mascha/Alonso/Lucas has in this formation.I'm really happy Alonso's back in the team.

Yes of course it's too early but the signs are good.

We will be really tested in the next 4 weeks.Inter,Man u,Everton and Arsenal all coming up.I can't imagine any of those teams relishing playing us at the moment.

I think the aim now is to really set down a marker for next season.

Our 5 remain away games are United, Arsenal, Fulham, Birmingham and Spurs. Our record against Birmingham & Fulham away is dreadful, Spurs are flying and Arsenal/United we have a 100% loss record away. A good showing in those 5 matches could give us the confidence to mount a serious challenge next season.

Our 4 remaining home games are also pretty difficult.

But we are playing well at the moment and the understanding between Gerrard and Torres is incredible, especially for their first season together

Tut, tut Stevie, don't start imitating Torres goal celebration, keep to your own.

He must be LOVING having torres here.

We now have 2 world class attacking players again. with one other potential star (Babel). If we can add a fourth, who can play with those 3, we will start to look like we've got what we've been missing for years, and what the teams we should be competing with have. I dunno about Dalglish & Rush comparisons, they've got a few years together and a few titles to win first, but the potential could just about be there.

Gerrard on Torres - "Fernando is frightening. From the opening home game of the season to Chelsea when he scored a cracker, he has been consistent all the way....He got off to a good start then and now he has hit 18 Premier League goals, the first person to do that here since Michael Owen. So far so good and hopefully he can continue like this right to the end of the season..... He has pace, power and is very direct but the most important thing for us is his work rate. He hasn't come here as a star, he is chipping in with his work as well and when you get that from a player as well you cannot ask for much more."

Torres on Gerrard - "When you play alongside a player like Stevie... it is easy to score like I have been. I am very comfortable with the partnership I have with Stevie and he is comfortable with me. We now must play like this for a long time together. We know where each other is running, where we are. I score, Stevie scores, and the team is winning. That is the most important thing...."

Not just back, but showing his true qualities once more. That is a huge boost for us.

It makes me think of an entombed pair, like Egyptian mummies. Gerrard was getting stale and never had anyone of his equal to play along side since he broke in to the team and Torres was in another country feeling exactly the same and both had the burden of their clubs and fans firmly on their shoulders and this weighed very heavy. I think Torres' goals aside, the minute the two came together they awoke sleeping demons and I believe the two have the potential to form one of the greatest partnerships ever. You can already tell that their football intelligence is beyond those they play with and once fine tuned will become that way in regards to opposition defenders.

I think we are about to witness something truly great.
