Just a story to go along with this. 10 years ago Dubai had only 60 miles of coast land and Sheikh Mo was interested in developing housing properties along the coastline. So he called his advisors to ask them about increasing Dubai's coastline. His advisors came up with the plan of increasing the coastline by 7 Kms. Sheikh told them I need 70 .

So basically he asked them to build an island( the palm tree one) so that they can have extended coastline on which they could build housing properties.

I don't like either tbh. Think it will look very dated in a short space of time. Parry bowl wasn't very nice either, but for the money being talked about, I would expect a lot more.

will be interesting to see if they try get it built quicker. The rate things get built in Dubai, they should be able to knock out a stadium in no time

If they want to start as soon as possible then the first HKS design is the only choice. We don't have planning permission or even tried to get that for the second design and that is very strange.
