If they had taken one of those chances, especially the chance to Cruz early on, it could have been a very different game.

But we worked very hard and deserved the breaks, and created some decent chances as well.

At least some of their players were gracious enough to admit we deseved it over the two games.

Thats what I said, an ok performance.

IMO they had far too much space in front of of the goal area, failed to score a couple of excellent chances, and our service through Babel and Kuyt was terrible.

The result was good, I don't think the performance was. I think some people believe that a win means it was a great performance, but I don't. It was a great win though, Inter in europe and away, but lets not kids ourselves that we played well.

I think the applause from their fans was more to do with us beating AC Milan in 2005.

It's funny how only you seem to think it was an ok performance and because the vast majority of Liverpool fans on Est think it was a lot more than an ok performance we watched the game through rose tinted spectacles.

You are entitled to your own opinion mate but so are we and I'm sorry but 99.99% of fans from what i've read thought last night we played very well. We weren't playing some 2 bob side from Albania we were playing the Italian league leaders and current champions of course they are going to have chances at home with 80,000 fans behind them.

In a game like that he should've been making his presence known but he was basically anonymous and standing off when he should've been causing a nuisance. I thought both he and Mascher failed to make an impact protecting the defence.

Babel looked to be lacking confidence and failed to take people on like we know he can do, Kuyt was woeful, and a pretty poor performance all round really.

A combination of our 2 goal cushion, their awful finishing and the talent that is Torres saw us through, but it was clear that we need to improve.

          Cracking goal though.

At no point in the entire game was I ever even slightly worried they could score two against us, let alone three and I was sure we would score.

I would say we strolled it.

I thought that's what I saw last night as well.

They had a couple of chances but didn't really look like scoring. If the game had started as a 0-0 aggregate then maybe we could have been accused of not being adventurous but in the context of a 2-0 lead we defended very well and played an excellent defensive game.

I can't see how FatTony can bash Mascher either, I thought he was awesome again. Won everything and sprayed the ball around nicely. I think Lucas' contribution in harrying and pressuring their midfielders is also seriously overlooked in his post.

Lucas was standing too far off everyone, especially in the danger areas for my liking. As much as I didn't rate him, Momo would've harrassed far more effectively last night.

This despite the fact that we played with a right midfielder who most people on here (and I include myself on this) would get rid of in a heart beat, an out of position right back, a centre half who's best days are arguably well behind him, and two champion league rookies who, despite showing lots of promise, most people seem to agree were a little overawed by the game - one of which bear in mind was only playing because a stork happened to have a particular delivery.

Which does make one start to wonder what kind of a side we could be with a fit Finnan, a new right midfielder and a bit of experience/potential realisation.

You're obviously quite wrong and therefore
I don't agree mate, I thought the kid did well but it's all about opinions.

A good team performance but a couple of individual stinkers. Roll on the draw. With Gerrard and Torres in this form, we will smash anyone!

I also completely disagree with you. We made Inter look very ordinary.

I'll agree with you. A great result it was, but a great performance it most definitely wasn't.

But for some absolutely shocking finishing, and some poor decisions in front of goal (twice the two inter front me could have squared the ball to a man free on the 6 yard line, both times they chose to shoot wide) this game could have been a lot more nail-biting.

Plus, the amount of space that we allowed Zanetti in midfield was criminal, time and again he went on marauding runs, with no sign of a tackle being made.

We didn't get lucky, but we could have been so easily made to pay. Great result, ok performance.
