The problem with 'rotating' Torres is not with the rotation itself, it is the fact that the gulf in quality between him and his replacement is massive. If UTD rest Rooney for example, they bring in Saha and it won't make much if any difference to the outcome of the game. If Rafa is backed in the summer, money wise, and he manages to bring in 1 or 2 top quality frontmen, I think we will see a massive difference next season and a genuine title challenge.
