'Lazy Journalist In Ludicrous Claim' Shock

If this is true I'll stick a rusty fish hook through my glans.

From rotund ****emeister Martin Samuel, in The Times:

This was an historic performance on an historic night. The supporters sensed it, too. Parochial songs and declarations of devotion to all things Scouse and red were crowned with a defiant chorus rarely heard from the throats of this nation’s cosmopolitan elite. “England,” the Liverpool fans cried. “England.”
    Bollocks, of the highest order.
    Screaming from beneath the waves...

If that's true, I'll use the rusty fish hook after you.

    What a load of bollocks!

No chance. The way he presents it is nothing short of cringe-worthy as well.

Apparently they were actually saying 'Inter', not England. Probably in response to the standing ovation

When was the ovation? After the game? As if Liverpool fans would chant 'England'.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

Can't believe he wrote that. No doubt he'd have liked them to chant that, but for an experienced football writer he should have known they weren't.

They were singing Inter, Inter as response to the standing ovation. Standing ovation from few Inter fans as many of them left the game shortly after Torres goal. It was funny....ooo how I laughed.

Here's another piece of remarkably **** journalism (not worth its own thread really)

When you consider Fernando Torres' contribution to stabilising Liverpool in the league, and how easily he transferred that authority to San Siro with another killing goal, it is quite bizarre to remember how he was forced to ride the bench in those early-season weeks when Liverpool's title chances drained away so abjectly.

Not withstanding the nonsense about Torres and the bench, did I get it wrong, or did we not do pretty well in "those early season weeks". Was it not sometime around December when our "title chances drained away" so abjectly? Blatant sloppyness seems to be the norm with journalists these days :
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                          Mine angry and defrauded young?

                            That's shockingly poor.

Curva Nord started singing YNWA (or at least walk on walk on) and our fans started chanting inter, inter inter
