    Spirit Of Shankly: Question 1

Sorry, this should have been posted earlier in the week, but I was in Milan!

In the light of the report in the Liverpool Echo where it was claimed Mr Hicks walked away from negotiations because he rejected DIC’s proposal of a supporter’s representative with full voting rights, we would like to clarify amongst the support on as wide a basis as possible where they stand on such an issue.

Would you welcome a democratically elected Supporter Representative, with full voting rights, on the board of Liverpool FC?

I would, but it would be interesting to see how such a person would be chosen and based on what criteria.

Not really, no. You end up with self appointed 'interest groups' and outdaded petty politics. Listening to people from 'SoS' claiming to be the voice of real fans gets on my tits. Then the Reclaim the Kop 'little hitlers'. Then talk of boycotts etc. It's like being in the 70s again (without the success).

A democractic process accross LFC fans is not possible, will end up with sects and will be unworkable imo.

A possible theoretical process that could work but I've not thought about enough to decide upon its viability:

                - Candidates put themselves forward on the official supporters club with a statement of themselves, manifesto etc

                - Poll the official supporters club (if you want on the board and to be involved in the elections, join it, simple as. If you don't like it's apparent toeing-the-line, fine - but for the purposes of this, join it!)

                - Supporters club members elect three candidates they would be happy with

                - Board members, including the previous outgoing supporter's rep, vote for which one of the three sit on the board

Although I like the idea of having a true 'supporter' on the board I think there are some pertinent points raised in this post and I tend to agree with a lot of it.

                    agree with that.

its not going to happen though

But if that happened it would just end up being a big 'personality' known on forums wouldn't it? That wouldn't necessarily ensure the most suitable person was chosen.

just re read the message i quoted. i thought it said the football club not the supporters club. i would agree that someone should be chosen by the board of directors at the club...

Id be interesting on how such a person was chosen. How they would get nominations etc. Somehow I cant see the fans rep being some cunt from London with a PTS card.

But isn't Moores a fan and he was on the board?

I''ve no problem with the board hearing what the fans say but not sure about having voting rights. Sometimes the head has to rule the heart and that doesn't really happen if you are a fan of the club.
