    Stevie G & Manure

I think we can all agree that Stevie never seems to have a good game against manure.

But I think this week will be different. Now that he has El Jefecito and Xabi behind him the need for him to do defensive work is greatly reduced. He's almost always in the final 3rd now and that can only be good.

The new 4231 is the best for him, I don't think we've played many of the big teams when we've had SG in arguably his most successful position.

Come on Stevie, Sunday is the day, the dawn of a new era

    Nope

It's more a case of the team not playing well against Scum since Rafa arrived, it's not like everyone else is flying whilst Gerrard is having a shocker, the whole team has underperformed against them.

No ball breaking 50 yard runs, 75 yard passes, 3 goal (inclusive of a 50 yarder) and he doesn't have a good game?

      Disagree!

Carra's past it and Kuyt is ****e too, sack Rafa.

The greatest pressure this weekend will be on Xabi. If he can do a good job in the game then that will mean Stevie will not have to drop deep.

The frustrating thing with Gerrard is that he sometimes takes to much on and tries to cover the whole pitch, making him less effective. When other players do their jobs, he doesn't have to, and so becomes more effective.

The further Gerrard drops, the more isolated Torres becomes. This makes us more reliant on Kuyt and Babel to create something. And let's be honest here, Babel still has alot to learn and Kuyt is not really good enough.

We need a TEAM performance, get that and we are more than a match for Man Utd.

Agreed, we need to have the confidence that Mascherano and Alonso can cope with anything that the United Midfield try to do. Anderson V Mascherano will be key for me, whoever wins that first half battle will have a big say on the outcome of the game.

That would be magic, I'm going to offer to show my arse in Burtons window if we pull that off. In the hope that you see me in Burtons window at the end of the season!

He's performered very poorly against United in recent years, as have the whole team but Gerrard is a player that can stand out even if the players around him aren't playing well. I'll be watching him closely on sunday, i expect him to deliver. I'll be bitterly disappointed if he doesn't.

As long as he clatters Anderson into high hell early on I will be happy.

he will cause mayhem for them on Sunday - in his new role he will be near on unstoppable.. Super Stevie G!!!!

Nah I think he has a point. Granted he’s had a handful of good games against the Mancs but for the most part he goes into his shell.

He was truly abject at OT last season and on numerous occasions, both home and away, Roy Keane got the better of him.

Although he’s scored a couple of great goals against them, my favourite SG memory against United is his wonderful through ball to Murphy in about the 85th minute to win the game. WHAT a pass that was.

If that's what you were referring to then it's certainly a contender.
                          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
