no that's the phrase that the agent used, not the manager.
Yeah that's what I thought. It will come out in due course who the manager was to be though because the beeb will hand all that over to the correct people but obviously couldn't tell us who it was for legal reasons.
I was starting to get worried when they were talking about a manager signing a defender in January because we signed Agger round about that time.
All I heard in the Liverpool piece was us saying that we'd take him on a pro contract at 17, which means that would be after his youth contract was up.
Unless I missed something, we never even came close to offering money for him while he was under contract at Boro'. Unlike the Chavs who offered £150,000 either in bonuses or salary?

The point Panaorama was making is, that we knew there was an illegal approach being made without Boro's consent, and we still agreed to meet with the agent. Not nearly as bad as Arnesen though offering 150k to the player.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Hmmmm.....I'm more inclined to think that we met with the agent to discuss the boy's future once his contract ran out with Boro. No harm in that, technically.
They are busy and lots of leechers versus few seeders, currently that is.
If I had known it was going to stir this much interest, I would have done it myself for all here, but alas, hindsight is a wonderful thing.
I'm sure it is being repeated - checks DigiGuide, can't find it, but I'm sure it was to be repeated this Sunday night/Monday AM, will try and get a definate.
