Gerrard in 'Ronaldinho' role?

There is nothing to say that gerrard is going to be aplaying on the left all the time. He wont be either. He will be given different roles for different games. Gonzales, Riise and Kewell have all to come back into the team. I wouldnt get worried about it. Point im making is, sometimes having a right footer who can create and score isnt a bad option on the right, especially if you like players scoring from midfield.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

How more forcefully, can i make my point. In putting Gerrard on the left you are nullifying his talent - possibly, in fact definitely, the best talent we have. He is Mr. Liverpool. The one we look to for changing a tight game, our creative spark! He scored 23 odd goals playing on the right last season, he's good there. We know this. Why for the love of Jehovahs would we endanger our season with this preposterous thinking.
Had Gerrard been playing on the right instead of the left we would have picked something up at the weekend IMO....

Gerrard on the right in the second half against Chelsea would have put them to the sword - instead we had either a) a good player in bad form, or b) a crap player full stop, out there trying to make things happen and failing.
I hope we don't see Gerrard on the left tonight - has to be Aurelio or Gonzalez.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

Seriously though, if SG had moved to the right he'd never have been awarded the space Pennant had. I would've liked to see Bellamy moved there with Crouch replacing Pennant. It was a shame Luis wasn't on the bench also. Still, onwards and upwards now.Like blood on iron

Thing is, We were playing against a centre half playing a fullback role(on the left). Rafa wanted to use Pennant as the wide option for crossing and Gerrard to come inside, if gerrard scored so many from that wide right position, there is an arguement to say he could score even more starting on the left coming in on his right foot.Originally posted by BobHow more forcefully, can i make my point. Sorry, Bazza, I don't understand that arguement. Why would Gerrard score more playing on the left?Originally posted by bazza76Thing is, We were playing against a centre half playing a fullback role. because he is right footed. same way right footed set piece takers prefer taking set pieces from the left side of goal, and left footers from the right. Its the natural side for shooting. Where as for crossing its the opposite naturally.Originally posted by CacodemonSorry, Bazza, I don't understand that arguement. I know what you are saying, I just don't understand the arguement!Originally posted by bazza76because he is right footed. same way right footed set piece takers prefer taking set pieces from the left side of goal, and left footers from the right. Gerrard on the left will invariably cut in, he will very rarely try and beat a player on his left foot - thus the RB will have a better idea of what he's going to do and how he's going to do it. Show him inside, and the RB and Central defender or even defensive midfield will double team Stevie - resulting in the threat being snuffed out.
Gerrard on the right, however, gives greater "possibilities" (
) Gerrard can go on the outside, or on the inside, he can play the early ball, or the late ball. He can use his pace to get past the full back, or look to play a 1-2 with a striker dropping off. All in all, there is a greater variety on what Gerrard can do on the right, which makes him far more difficult to deal with....

**** offOriginally posted by bazza76So you are admitting defeat then

I am a right midfielder and have been asked to play on the left many times - nightmare!
In fact the last few games i've been switching, in a clever attempt at tactically confuddling the opposition
Right midfielders hate playing on the Left - FACT!...
